January 10, 201610 yr As I think back on the game, I believe the turning point and where the refs and Bengals lost control was the Shazier hit on Bernard. Up to that point, this was looking like a classic battle. That play was an obvious penalty with Shazier lowering his head and leading with his helmet, plus helmet to helmet. The refs don't throw a flag. From that point on, the refs lost control of the game and the Bengals lost control of themselves. The ref in the booth said that Bernard had a chance to catch the ball and take two steps and could see the defender coming at him, also it was not helmet to helmet. Big scuffle breaks out after this play. While everyone is watching the scuffle I was watching Mike Mitchell. He was concerned about Bernard, took a knee, and clapped his hands when Bernard got up and walked off the field. Mitchell was not the one who put the hit on Bernard. Great showing of sportsmanship by Mitchell.

Seems like he violated it to me based on the wording of the rule.

I don't think Dalton could have led that final drive considering the terrible preceding 3 quarters. He would have been done, IMO.

He would have been done, IMO. Where we'll disagree on Andy is this. I don't think the Bengals would have been in that situation with a healthy Dalton against a suspect pass D.
