With all due respect I just don't think you can fully appreciate the very huge differences from the type of kid and situation a kid from Ludlow, Bellevue or Dayton faces as opposed to those from Ft Mitchell. Not knocking the Ft Mitchell kid whatsoever but the gap has widen significantly since our day.

Also back in our day about 95% of your rooster was made up of kids from within the Ft Mitchell city limits and same for Ludlow. As the percentage has pretty much stayed the same for Ludlow, maybe dropping to the 85% to 90% for Ludlow I dare say your rooster has a large number of youngmen from the Villa Hills, Crescent Sprgs, Lakeside Park, Edgewood and other areas beyond. Again knocking it at all just wish that I would hear one Beechwood supporter admit that the demographics have changed in the past 20 years.

The demographics have changed because Beechwood has been successful, and kids actually want to go there.

All due respect, in my day Beechwood lost as many games as any of our local teams. We were no big deal, until 73-74. I can fully appreciate that. With the blessing of great coaches (Mariani, Barre, Yeagle, and now Rash) , and great parental support, Beechwood has built a successful program. Therefore, yes, we attracted great talent from tuition students, and families moving into the district. Don't have to apologize for that. In fact, once the ball got rolling, it is one of the things that made more people want to live in the Beechwood district. If our roster has changed, it has to do with the quality of our coaching, a school dedicated to their students, and the support of our parents.

 

So, coming from a very middle classed kid from the 70's, I think we have worked hard for those few tuition kids. I do not have rose colored glasses to make me see that, and I can appreciate where I came from.

CovCath never won a state championship when there was only 3 classes.

So when they won them with a 4 class system, I guess it did not mean that much. Because they were going against less competition.

 

Did I ever say it didnt mean that much? No I didn't. A state championship is still a state championship and I would still be just as proud of winning it, but I would know we didnt play the same competition teams played in the past. I would personally feel like I was getting screwed out of that opportunity, and if the teams that won them in the four class system as opposed to the old three class system felt the same way then I would understand that too. If you're trying to prove me wrong its impossible to do, because its my opinion and the way that I feel and you can't prove that wrong. Anyone can argue the fact that time heals all wounds and in four or five years no one will even think about the four class system anymore, but that won't change the fact that its not forcing the toughest road possible to a state championship.

You could discuss the possibility of getting "screwed" with your coach and

A.D. and move up to 5A. Then you can really swell up with pride when you win that state ring. Also, you could tell the former state title winners at CCH

that they should feel that they got "screwed" out the since of pride you feel

because you played up a class.

Certainly never expected you to agree with me my friend. Not at all suggesting you you apologize for any of your success but to just say all you had to do was win to attract kids from outside your city would only be half true. IMO a very concentrated effort was made by your football staff to go and pursue athletes from outside your district to play football. Thats my opinion shared by a great many outside the Beechwood fan base. You and the other Beechwood faithful will just call it jealousy but go back and look over your roosters in say the last 15 years. How many of your key players lived outside the district. You no doubt will feel that I'm entirely wrong as will many others. Neither of us will change each others mind so I'll see you at Volleyball. Take care..

I would gladly move up to 5A but believe it or not I don't have much say in the matter. And anyway I'm not trying to and I'm not going to force my opinions on anyone I was simply stating the way I felt.

 

Not only that your comment didn't make any sense with regards to mine because I stated I was upset that I don't get to compete for a state championship against the competition that the former CovCath champions had. So if said that why would I tell them they should feel screwed if what they had is what I wanted.

Hard to respect an opinion that's nothing more than hypocritical. Without the move from 3 to 4 and Mayfield and Danville deciding to play up, it's very likely there would have never been a Beechwood dynasty...
