Because slime ball Harry Reid got up on the Senate floor and slammed them and the press picked up on it making it sound like they run the R party...

I worked around a Koch brothers Co. back in the 90's at Dow Corning in Carrollton . All their workers were Mexican except the supervision . We had a guy from Texas of Mexican descent working for us fluent in Spanish . He found out that they all were illegal . We reported the company to the INS and poof they were there on Friday and replaced on Monday with a different crew of American workers . The Koch's are like any other slimy businessmen if they can cheat and it is profitable they will try to get away with the illegal activity . It didn't work that time .

Because the Koch bros seek out publicity, unlike other billionaire donors. Actually, Charles Koch offered sensible viewpoints in the Financial Times interview cited in the link. If Trump or Cruz wins the nomination, I would be surprised if the Koch bros offer much in the way of financial support.
