Charles Koch Not Happy with Republican Field

Featured Replies

Isn't Trump getting most of his money from his left wing friends? :sssh:

Because the Koch bros seek out publicity, unlike other billionaire donors. Actually, Charles Koch offered sensible viewpoints in the Financial Times interview cited in the link. If Trump or Cruz wins the nomination, I would be surprised if the Koch bros offer much in the way of financial support.

Those guys don't spend money on politicians without the expectation that their agenda becomes that candidate's agenda. Money shouldn't buy you the right to make your vote more valuable than mine.

And right there's part of the reason Trump is so popular.

It's the same reason I would vote for any outsider democrat or republican.

I do laugh at how Cruz tries to paint himself as average Joe. Says Trump being from NYC is "not one of us." Dude went to Harvard and Princeton and his wife worked for Goldman Sachs. Average Joe.

Hardly new but always makes me chuckle.

I wonder how many politicians are like an average person.

By definition, not many, and I don't have a problem with that. Just don't try to sell it that way.

I can't think of a politician that doesn't try to sell themselves that way other than Trump.

Like a lot of things in life it's a matter of degree. I haven't heard anyone else use the actual words like Cruz has. Yes, they'll change their attire occasionally. They'll eat the local cuisine. But to SAY it just is a bit much for me.

Own it. You're really smart. You've had great success in life. AND your wife is a Wall Street exec.

What exactly did he say and under what context? I don't think Trump is "one of us" in any context.

I don't recall the exact quote but it was more in reference to him being from NYC and "those values" than it was to Trump himself. It felt like "he's a big city guy" vs "small town, humble, hard-working guy like the rest of y'all."
