Browns Could Bench Johnny Manziel for Christmas Eve Partying Video

Yet another video of Johnny Manziel partying has emerged, this one apparently taken from Christmas Eve, that would appear to be the kind of thing the Cleveland Browns told him not to do.

Busted Coverage posted the video — all 10 seconds of it — on its Instagram site showing Manziel appearing to drink Four Loko, an alcoholic energy drink, along with a friend, while dancing and rapping.

Browns head coach Mike Pettine hadn't seen the video when he spoke with Cleveland-area media on Monday, and he said that Manziel could be benched in the 2015 season finale and that the "repercussions would be harsh" if his quarterback is found to be in violation of his agreement with the team.

"Anytime there's something with our players that casts them potentially in a bad light, whether it's Johnny or any of our other guys, it's certainly a concern," Pettine said. "I'm sure I'll see it. I'll have a discussion with him about it."

The team told Manziel previously it wanted no more social media videos of Manziel partying, and that appears to be exactly what this was. It's another embarrassment for Manziel and the team. He has had multiple incidents in Year 2 after he said he matured after a tumultuous rookie season.

Worse still, the alleged partying happened hours before one Browns player and one former Browns player were arrested on multiple charges, including illegal possession of Adderall, drunk driving, speeding and a gun charge.

Manziel had been the star of a bye week video in which he rapped vulgar lyrics and was drinking at a club in Austin, Texas. He later was dropped from the starting lineup to the third string after he lied to the team about when the video took place. Manziel was benched for two games before re-emerging as the Browns' starter.

Dude has the worst friends in the world....Or he's doing this deliberately to get released.

Agreed and agreed. At this point he has to be doing it on purpose doesn't he? Surely he isn't that damn stupid is he? I mean damn, Johnny.

Why post a dang video? Your inside of what it looks like a house probably his..... It wasnt a bad video though.

The real question is why in the world, when he signed a contract for 7 figures (I'm assuming he did), is Johnny Manziel drinking a $2.50 Black Cherry 4 Loko?

Gross.

Manziel will not play in the Browns' final game against the Steelers. Austin Davis will be the starting QB against the Steelers.

This is not due to the most recent video of Manziel partying, though. He complained of concussion symptoms following last Sunday's game and is on concussion protocol. Apparently it was severe enough to sit him for the final game.

Coach Pettine did speak to whether this most recent video would have gotten Johnny in trouble with him and perhaps made to sit the bench. Pettine says not this time. Here's his reason:

But the coach stressed that the Christmas Eve video didn't rattle his cage the way the bye weekend one did. In that instance, Manziel vowed not to embarrass the team over the break, and he did. Furthermore, he tried to pass the video off as old, which violated the coaches' trust.

"He was at home on his day off,'' Pettine said of the latest video. "As far as the judgement of it getting out there, I question that. Other than that, this is not similar to the circumstances that involved (the bye week video and response). That was more trust and accountability than it was necessarily the act. I'll have a conversation with him at the first time that I can."

The season is over for Johnny. Will it also be the last game Pettine is head coach of the Browns?

Anyone starting to think he is doing this to get released.

Nah, they're dealing with "Affluence"

Who in the world would take him?

His game might fit in with football in Canada...

Yeah, I think Johnny may be challenging Pettine. From PFT:

It doesn’t take a non-concussed brain to realize that the easiest way for a 23-year-old with a history of off-field issues and no self-awareness to avoid getting in trouble at work (again) would be to claim that he has headaches and/or other symptoms of a concussion. Everyone associated with the NFL is currently petrified of letting a player take the field with a head injury. Given the lack of a thermometer-in-the-orifice style test for diagnosing a concussion, the Browns physicians weren’t about to dispute Manziel’s claims.

So Manziel avoids “harsh repercussions” from Pettine, who possibly won’t be employed by the Browns this time next week. Manziel also avoids the risk of a Week 17 injury as he enters an offseason that could see him traded to a new team, possibly the one in his Lone Star home state with an owner who continues to have a clear interest in acquiring him.

Also, just about three weeks ago Pettine dealt out some tough talk on Manziel:

Pettine says consequences for another Manziel incident would be ?harsh? | ProFootballTalk

I hope and pray that the Browns fire Pettine and go with Johnny Football. That just assures the Bengals only have to beat two teams each year to win the division. Come on Browns...give Johnny Football another chance!!!

You cannot have the class clown be the face of your franchise...unless you are the Browns...

Who in the world would take him?

Johnny should quit the Browns and go play with the Rat Pack.

Concussion and hangover symptoms are very similar. Just sayin
