No touching sacred cows Trinity, St. Xavier

No touching Trinity, St. Xavier

"And just in case you were wondering, by some stroke of luck Trinity and St. Xavier are not in the same Class 6A district. Maybe it's fine to put programs such as Boyle and Lexington Catholic together or place Danville and Bardstown in the same district, but the KHSAA won't touch the sacred cows - Trinity and St. Xavier. If you think it is just a coincidence that these teams were placed in different districts to keep alive a chance of a Trinity-St. Xavier title game, then I want to sell you a sauna to use in this hot weather because you have to be more gullible than anyone I know."

Vaught's Views: New alignment brings new rivalries

OK smart guy, how would you have the Louisville districts mapped out? He is so full of hot air.

He was just quoting the article.

Or were you directing your question to Vaught?

does Vaught know that St. X, although not in the same district as T, is and always has been in the same district with another Ky powerhouse? Why didn't just say that X, T and H should all be in the same district?

Well, starting this year a St. X/Trinity game can't take place can it? I guess his argument just went out the door.

That's what I thought too

Larry's normally dead on, but this column is awry.

I do get a kick out of the "it will be hard to find non district games" whine. If a team is a 7 or 8 team district, they whine that with all the district games, they can't schedule many hard out of district teams to help improve the team. With the reclassification, where teams will be in either 4 or 5 team districts, we now hear the whine of it will be hard to fill the schedule with out of district teams and they need to start working on the 2007 schedule now. Jeez, you surely can't please all of the people all of the time.

Where is Mr. Vaught coming from? If he means that the KHSAA intentionally put St. Xavier and Trinity in different districts in order to preserve a later round matchup or even a state championship game, well....yes. These two rivals in a state championship game bring in more money to the KHSAA coffers. Nothing surprising about that. On the other hand, if he is implying that either of these teams had some sort of influence in "fixing" the districts so they each would have an easier ride until the finals he couldn't be much further off. After all, if X could "fix" the district does he really think X would "fix it" by putting Male and PRP in the district with X?

It would be aweful if the two best teams met in the championship game!

It is mildly ridiculous that the proposed 6A district alignment keeps X and Male in the same district when there are three predominantly Louisville-based districts. Why?

The map on the KHSAA website shows some sanity. I must say the KHSAA hit Jefferson County right on. You can draw district lines several ways. The current proposal meets all criteria as far as distance within the county. If you don;t like it, contact your local KHSAA board member and let them know your feelings. If the 2/3 majority doesn;t like it and they can convince the boarc of control, then they will redraw it. The main thing now is something must be done as soon as possible so teams can make scheduling arrangements.

Vaught has proven to be clueless on everything from the Public/Private split to 6 classes...

I have argued this before, but why is it a good thing for the KHSAA to make a bunch of money?? Aren't they a non-profit organization?
