Not a big deal to me. I do think it shows mentally where Pitino is with the whole UK thing. A simple apology would suffice.

Who cares?

Did everyone forget about Coach Cal calling a player a "selfish muth$&@;!?" On live tv?

That didn't bother me either......but some of you guys double standard much?

I don't remember that, but if that's the case I find that just as bad...heck maybe even worse than shooting the bird and should come with some form of discipline as well. And I am neither a UL or UK fan.

Whomever he wants? Probably not. An ignorant fan? Absolutely.

Do you know what the fan said, or are you just assuming they're "ignorant"?

Regardless, Rick isn't special. Would he allow his players to do that? What if the refs did it? Would they be in trouble?

Yes, he's beyond discipline for small stupid things like this because he'd be incredibly hard to replace. Same goes for Coach Cal, Coach K, Roy, Self, etc. They can get away with things others can't because of their status in the coaching ranks.

All those you mentioned, except the basketball player (which would depend on who it was), are all easily replaced, so yes they'd probably be disciplined.

Being easy to replace is irrelevant to the topic. No one is saying he should be fired. One could argue this is by far the smallest of his mistakes recently...but it's a immature mistake nonetheless.

In a fantasy world, you're right he wouldn't be treated any differently than anyone else who did it. In the real world, yes he (along with other coaches) is special.

I believe that was directed at his own player, Demarcus Cousins.

^It was Terrance Jones, but yeah.

Thanks.

No one is debating that.

He's special in that he won't be fired or suspended for it. I am just saying that I don't think he's above being punished.

Jurich gave him a raise and contract extension after the Karen Sypher fiasco. I think he just yawned after the flip off.

Would the coach suspend one of his players for it? If the coach would, then I think the coach should take the same punishment he would give one of his players.

Couldn't agree more.

It wouldn't be as shocking coming from a player. Young men sometimes have a hard time keeping their cool. It's kind of strange seeing a coach do it....

After the publicity this has garnered, Rick may get another bump. Next year's viewership is assured to increase.

You'd be fine with the face of your university doing something like that if you were the President?

I'd have a chat behind the scenes, but wouldn't suspend unless it happened again.

^ Sorry. Didn't see Mentschblahblah's post.

My thoughts exactly.
