A Christmas Story

Featured Replies

It's the time of year to watch it over and over... Be sure to Drink your Ovaltine..

Classic movie. Randy Parker's time to shine.

Show me how the piggies eat!

Was watching it last night at 2am whilst wrapping gifts. Actually watched it twice. Noticed little things that I don't remember from before, like when the whole class puts in the fake teeth, and when the Bumpus's dog gets his tail caught in the door on the first run through.

Thought it was an ear.

Had it on all day.

I never tire of Randy Parker's cinematic triumph.

Fell asleep watching and woke up watching!

Here are a few other things to notice:

The narrator of the film, Jean Shepherd, is also the author of the book. He makes a cameo appearance. He's the guy in the Santa line who tells Ralphie where the line starts.

Also, Grover Dill was supposed to be the main bully instead of Scut Farkus, but when they started filming, they decided to change it up.

And one other thing: Jack Nicholson was the original choice to play the Old Man, but he turned the part down.

I like the movie, brings back a lot of memories, but after the fifth time I couldn't stand it any more.

I have to watch it at least once every Christmas. Very nostalgic

Once was more than enough for me. Never cared for it.

With all due respect to RP, this continues to be the most overrated Christmas movie of all time.
