I think it will be on multiple screens in Danville also. All the pre-sales tickets had sold out but while at the movies yesterday they had a sign up advertising another showing on Thursday night.

I'm not certain it will. Primarily, because I wouldn't be surprised if some, not many but some, hold off for some word of mouth. I think the movie looks good - but the Phantom Menace trailer looked good too. There's not a lot of trust for some on Star Wars these days.

I predict it not only breaks the record but will shatter it.

On a side note, I think I might give some Star Wars stuff for Christmas gifts. Has anyone seen any for sale? Don't they usually do movie tie-ins with merchandise?

That's true, but I think that's factored in here. The prequels were so universally reviled Disney is not only well aware of what people hated about them but has made enough gestures to show they've responded, including putting JJ Abrams in charge. I think people have freed themselves to get hyped up. I can't remember a movie that had this much hype.

I bought a "Loyal To The Empire" Storm Trooper beer koozie today at Target. :lol2:

I know where to get some:sssh:

FWIW, Reviews today said it was off the charts good!

I predict it not only breaks the record but will shatter it.

This -- you'll lose a dollar, MJ.

Some things I'll just never understand. The popularity of this being very near the top.

They could make a movie with beanie babies humping, call it Star Wars - Beanies Babies Breed, and it would make $100,000,000 the first week end.

I heard yesterday that there were already $50,000,000 in pre-sales...so that $86,000,000 Hobbit Record for December opening weekend looks to be going down by on Friday.

EDIT: http://www.cnbc.com/2015/12/16/star-wars-the-force-awakens-surpasses-100m-in-advanced-ticket-sales-report.html

Looks like it has broken $100,000,000 before anyone has even seen it.
