Franklin-Simpson has 5 losses in the Championship Game to go with two wins. Highlands kept showing up. The Bbirds accounted for four of the five.

Fort Campbell and Russellville are a little higher than expected. Russellville hans't been a powerhouse on the State level in a while..but lots of mid round playoff success.

 

I would be curious to see how the success of Ft. Campbell and Ft. Knox has coincided with politics. Have these teams been better with a Republican Administration or a Democrat Administration? When fighting conflict overseas has that caused a spike in their ability?

 

You will see more of Russellville now that Murray and Mayfield have moved on. I see a new rival btween Russ. and BW.

Who has the most State Finals losses? When I saw Somerset with 5, that is really tough, but does show they have been very competitive in the past.

 

They were VERY tough in the early mid 80's.

I believe Somerset is 0-5 in the state finals.

This whole thing is great, but for a team like OHS, doesn't take into account its' entire history. OHS has been playing football since the 1890's and that's an awful lot of football history to overlook. I do want the OP to know I appreciate the work, because this is no easy task. However, I do believe OHS should be higher than #19. The big elephant that continues to haunt OHS is not having more state titles. Several have slipped away from OHS over the years, and maybe that is a reason for not ranking them higher. It's just hard for me to imagine there being 18 programs in the state that are historically better than OHS.

Even really bad Covington Catholic teams are usually still good for atleast one playoff win. But everyone is right. That Highlands road block has been a killer for district/regional championships.

Somerset at #24 and Glasgow at #20 with no state titles to their credit is a testament to how consistently good they have been over the years.

 

They both have come up just a little short, and I would love to see them win the big one in the near future and get rid of that monkey.

I think Russellville is getting too much credit. Their lack of success from their last title to now hasn't been that good.
