Highlands was lucky to be in that game with Pulaski...2 big plays (big run on first series and a bomb at the end of the half) that lead to 2 TD's and a turnover that gave a short field for another one. Outside of a handful of plays Highlands was completely outplayed. If Highlands couldn't stop Pulaski running the ball they would have been steam rolled by a much better rushing attack of N Laurel.

 

Highlands "Schedule" didn't prepare them for the second half against Pulaski Co.

 

Here are the other 3 Regions Finalist...I'm not sure HHS or CCH either one would make the region finals in these regions, this year.

Region 1 Bowling Green and Owensboro in the finals...HHS or CCH aren't beating either of them

Region 2 Fern Creek and South Oldham, Not beating FC...it would be a pick'em against SO, IMO

Region 3 Pulaski and North Laurel, got beat by Pulaski and IMO both get beat by NL

No not really. It is a matter of people making informed decisions rather than just looking at a box score. Nobody said Highlands was # 1 did they? To say that they were lucky this lucky that against Pulaski is simply a false statement.

N laurel an S Oldham both ranked above Highlands? I don't agree at all. Could u plz explain?

 

Just saw this. South Oldham had a rough start to the season with so many new faces. They hit their stride defensively fairly quick and had the second/third ranked scoring defense by the end of the regular season. Granted the teams they played were not "great" but they performed well. The offense took a little longer and once a few tweeks were made the running game took off. The passing game took a little longer but at the end of the season the offense was balancing out the running/passing game. That is why they put a balanced 300 yds offense and 20 points on the top ranked defense (Fern Creek). In the playoffs South Oldham scored 5 rushing TD's and 6 passing TD's. This despite losing 3 running backs to injury. If not for two great plays by Kinslow they would have beaten Fern Creek. Would have been interesting to see how that balanced offense would have fared vs BG or any of the other semi-finalists. My opinion but that is why I ranked them that high.

Did not get to see too many JV games due to work schedule so not as familiar with what's coming up as I would like. Have to talk to some friends about that and get back to you. Got to see the final on line and BG looked real good. Really liked the defense -- very fast to the ball and the pass coverage was outstanding. How do things look for the Purples next year?

BG had a great year! Next year their offense loses about 5 guys off their 2-deep roster, so things are great there. But on defense, they will lose about 12 guys off their 2-deep roster. This is where BG could struggle next year. Should be fun.

 

I don't know much about South Oldham except they gave a very good Fern Creek team all they wanted. Best of luck next year!

North Laurel gave Pulaski County a better game than Highlands did. I told folks in the Highlands update thread that Pulaski County would win and they did. Correct me if I am wrong but didn't North Laurel actually hold the lead on Pulaski County longer than Highlands did? Didn't North Laurel still actually have a chance to beat Pulaski County late in the game? Hmmmm....just checked...yeah......

Soooooo....North Laurel loses to Pulaski County by 4 AT Pulaski County and Pulaski County then ventured up to Highlands where their mighty home field advantage was supposed to guide them to victory but yet Pulaski County managed to out score Highlands 27-0 on their home field after Highlands got up 31-14 in the third quarter. But Highlands is better than North Laurel?????

I too am surprised at how low NL is on most people's lists. Also how high Oboro is when compared to them and Fern Creek.

Center, I think it has to do with what side of the state you happen to live on. If you live on the left hand side of the state, you have likely SEEN Owensboro play and respect them more. Whereas, on the right hand side of the state, you have likely SEEN North Laurel play and respect them more.

 

I would have loved to see North play this year, but never got an opportunity to. I did see O play twice and am very respectful to their program because of it.
