N Laurel had the number 1 ranked rushing team in the state...seeing how they played Pulaski compared to Highlands, I gave North Laurel the edge.

S Oldham could have very easily advanced against a much better than Highlands, Fern Creek team.

 

Highlands just wasn't Highlands this season...they were in the easiest region in 5A or they wouldn't have made the semi-state. Put Highlands in any of the other Regions this year and they don't make Semi-State...and may not have made the region finals in a couple.

Outside of a handful of plays Highlands was completely outplayed. If Highlands couldn't stop Pulaski running the ball they would have been steam rolled by a much better rushing attack of N Laurel.

 

Highlands "Schedule" didn't prepare them for the second half against Pulaski Co.

 

Here are the other 3 Regions Finalist...I'm not sure HHS or CCH either one would make the region finals in these regions, this year.

Highlands also had to defend against the passing attack of Pulaski, something they would not have had to do against North Laurel. I don't think you can underestimate the effect a balanced offense has on a defensive approach. Highlands didn't appear to have a good rushing defense when you look at the stats, but they also got gashed by those vastly superior teams in 6A.

I think a lot of people are forgetting how hard Fern Creek fought BG. They put it on BG defensively. Would've made it 14-7 at the end of the 3rd if it wasn't for a personal foul penalty on a lineman... Coulda been a whole different game. Not a big fan of christian county this year, feel like FC would beat Cov Cath and Christian. MAYBE Highlands.
