Mr. James didn't say anything about modern versions or anything like that. He is speaking about following a religious text. How taking passages from that text can make someone become radicalized. His words are in my post.

 

Ok thats great and all, but if you are trying to compare the violent nature of Islam to Christianity, it would probably be wise to use the the holy text which is currently applicable to today's Christians. You are using an outdated text to attempt to prove a point.

You're talking about taking literal translations of a holy document.

 

Do you not try to follow the 10 commandments? What about the creation story, is it wrong?

 

I'm giving you passages I quickly pulled from a religious text just as you did with the Koran.

 

I never quickly pulled mine. Like I said I have read alot of it. Do I believe the creation story, sure. Do I try my best to live by the 10 commandments? Yes. Why is that. Because of Jesus teachings is why I use those references. I agree that both the Bible and Quran are to much to pull verses from and just throw them out. But the Bible and the Quran are two very different books.

No one is preventing you from ending or engaging in any debate. I've never entered into the creationism v evolution debate. Who is the "we" you are referring to?

Every work place violent attack to date has had a husband and wife team, phone calls to people on terrorism watch list, bomb factor in their garage, destroyed their pc hard drives, visted the MS twice in last couple years and dropped off their kids with granny.

Christians are very much still basing their beliefs on OT passages for many of our debates in today's world. Gay marriage, creationism vs evolution, death penalty.... There's no way Christians can say that they don't selectively utilize the Old Testament teachings to support their positions. While most Christians don't necessarily follow them to the letter, they at least are the foundation of many ideals that Christians hold.

No I have not thrown it all out. Jesus himself never threw it all out. But have I threw out the parts that he quoted. Without going into a long discourse, when Jesus came and died on the cross alot changed. Thats now why there are Christians and Jewish. For the most part Christians acknowledge the historical context of the Old Testament but the Blood of Jesus is what changed everything and his teaching are what Christians strive to be, not the Law of Moses.
