Clyde Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Thomas More released a statement saying they are holding Sydney Moss out of games while they look into a potential compliance issue. I haven't heard anything definite so it's all speculative. Agent issue?
TAC Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Saw that on the news last night. I'm wondering what's going on as well.
NKY Bandit Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Any speculation on what the concern might be?
lawildcat Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Sydney Moss benched amid NCAA compliance review Arguably the best Division III women's basketball player in the country is riding the bench as her school investigates an unspecified NCAA compliance issue. Thomas More College's Sydney Moss, the daughter of former NFL player Randy Moss and a former Boone County High School star, will be withheld from competition until the review is complete, college President David Armstrong said Wednesday. The nature of the compliance issue was not revealed, and Armstrong said no comments would be made until the review is over. Cory Blackson, the college's director of athletic communications and compliance, verified Thursday night that Moss remains enrolled at the school. Moss is in good academic standing, Blackson said. She is not the subject of any other academic or behavioral reviews by Thomas More administration, he said. Moss did not play Wednesday night as the defending-national-champion Saints defeated Denison 62-48 in the season opener. The top-ranked Saints do not play again until Nov. 28, when they host No. 15 Ohio Northern. "Out of an abundance of caution, the college will withhold women's basketball student-athlete Sydney Moss from competition during the period of the review," Armstrong said in a prepared statement. "The college's decision to withhold Sydney from competition at this time should in no way be construed as an indication of a NCAA rules violation by Sydney." The statement did not name any other players in connection with the investigation. According to head coach Jeff Hans, the Saints were notified of the potential issue earlier in the week. Armstrong would not elaborate beyond his statement, stating that NCAA rules preclude the college from discussing the matter further while the review is pending. Before arriving in Crestview Hills, she'd had a terrific first season at D-I Florida: 24-game starter, made the Southeastern Conference all-freshmen team, averaging 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Moss last season won all three Division III National Player of the Year awards as she was named the WBCA Player of the Year, the D3hoops.com Player of the Year and the Women's DIII News Player of the Year and was also named a first-team All-American by all three organizations. She led the nation in points per game with 24.2. During the NCAA postseason, she broke the NCAA all-division women's or men's tournament scoring record as she scored 197 points in the Saints' six NCAA tournament games. The year before, her first season at Thomas More, Moss led the nation in D-III scoring (27.8 points per game), and averaged 8.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.8 steals. She won all three D-III national player of the year awards and was named first-team All-American that year as well. Before arriving at Thomas More, she'd started for University of Florida, a Division I school where she made the Southeastern Conference all-freshman team. She transferred two seasons ago to Thomas More, saying she wanted to return home and make basketball fun again, according to Enquirer archives.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I wonder how Gary Clark would have done at Mt. St. Joe's? #ThingsThatMakeYouGoHmm
frankdracman23 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Still no Moss although TMC won to move to 2-0 behind 30 points from Kiernan.
swamprat Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 How long does it take to investigate? Regardless of what it is, to drag it out like this drives me nuts.
TAC Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 TMC has done a great job keeping the issue under wraps. 4 former NCC players on the team with her and @Lawnboy13 has no scoop?

frankdracman23 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Thomas More win the tourney final today 89-66 over Hanover behind 36 points from Owings. No Moss.
InItToWinIt Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 TMC is loaded this year. Not sure why Moss can't play, but I hope the investigation is over and she is on the court soon.

Heard that their coach has stated that she might be out for another 8 weeks. Don't have a link or anything, just through the grape vine. No idea if that's accurate.

No idea if that's accurate. Hope that's not the case but as long as she's available at tournament time they should survive with Abby and Kiernan.
