I have always questioned Shaqs desire to get better at the line. You will never convince me Free throwing shooting is not a fixable fault.

I think it's fair to give Mo more than one year with this crew, especially with Iggy coming into his own. I'm not sure what Carney does for you, despite push Korver down the rotation (which is fine with me), but I think Mo deserves more than one year to work with the 2nd greatest player in Franchise History.

Weren't there rumors of them two not getting along? Don't you think Mo Cheeks has a say in this?

 

Also Carney is a freak of an athlete there is not to many people who compare with his athletic ability anywhere in the world.

Guess what, Rondo is probably faster and more athletic than Nash, Jason Kidd, and John Stockton too -- what's that worth? Eric Snow knows his role and is able to adapt it to those players around him. Rondo hasn't shown that ability. Eric Snow, in spite of his apparent lack of athleticism and speed can guard anyone. He is very cerebral, and on a team with AI (for now), you have to play smart and be able to adapt to a different type of player. Snow still can't make a shot over 15 feet with any regularity, however, again, his Basketball IQ is off the chart, he plays hard and with great heart, and he knows how to get his team-mates involved.

 

When Dick Vitale and Jay Bilas publicly decry you as a guy that burns the shot clock pounding the ball (something EVERY UK fan has seen more than our share of), it is indicative of something.

 

I think Rondo is in for a World Class Eye Opening experience on the next level. If I'm wrong, especially if he is red, blue, and black, I'll happily come on here and admit it. However, I hope he stays in Beantown and then I can bask in the glow of my correctness. :banana:

The people who do this for a living say he's the best pg in the draft, and he gets drafted first. Chad Ford, who studies this more than we do says he's top 10 talent and has always thought highly of him since the US team practices. And he supposedly dominated Williams and Foye in private workouts for the Celtics. I'm just guessing people think he's going to make an ok point guard. I would think his shot will improve over his career. Some guys just don't excel for whatever reasons in college and are better as professionals. I'm saying that's what happens here.

I'm sure the the hundreds of millions of dollars he has earned over his career and the fact most still consider him the best player over the last two decades at his position might over shadow it.

 

Again if you can teach 12 year olds to increase there ft percentage, no reason a paid multi-millionare should not be able to. Wether its mental or physical its a fixable part of anyones game. Probably the easiest part of any major sport in America.

I haven't heard them if they are, I think AI respects the heck out of Mo (and I assume vice versa). I think Billy King is a fine guy (with a horrible Draft track record, minus Iggy), but I get the impression he likes to "call the shots." However, yes, I would HOPE Mo has a say in this.

 

Carl Lewis was a "freak of an athlete" too, I wouldn't want him on the Sixers. Magic was slow and couldn't jump, but I'd have preferred him in Philly. Iggy is a freak of an athlete as well, but until he develops a consistent mid-range game and jump-shot, he is simply a slam dunk / finishing stud.

They were probably looking for an explosive guard w ho can drive on anyone, dish, create, and defend.

 

It will be interesting to see how he does with penetrating against NBA guards who are bigger, as quick, and stronger. The good news is that the NBA seems to have made a decision to call the game tighter so that will help RR.

No question about it, you can certainly play the "experts like him" card and I can't refute it. I'm saying that I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of this sport, and I have watched Rondo for about 60 games over the last 2 years. I'm not over-whelmed with the "tools", but I am under-whelmed in the apparent grey-matter.

 

I'm simply stating my opinion -- there are many who disagree, both on BGP and in the NBA front-offices of this continent.

Shaq didn't need to improve his free throw shooting. It never actually cost him. I think if it would have ever been a big enough deal he would have become better. 50% has been enough to win championships. That's what his goal is, not to be a 70% shooter from the line.
