My second point is that he has missed 5,678 free throws in his career (6,243/11,921). If he shoots 70%, he would have added another 2,000-2,500 points onto his career totals. Ok nobody ever said he wouldn't have had more career points. Which year would he have won a championship?

July 4, 200620 yr Exactly - it changes the entire perplextion of the game. You have to factor in things like: - he couldn't be intentionally fouled anymore - so what happens on all those plays that were prevented because of the Hack-a-Shaq? - there wouldn't be all of those rebounds of which many turned into fastbreaks for the other team - every time he caught the ball in the post, he would have most likely at least scored one point - he would've actually been in the game during crucial times because the other team couldn't afford to just foul him every time There are a lot of factors that would be different, IMO. As someone else has already said, except for this year every other year he has been in the game still late in the games. Pat Riley has been pretty much the only coach who has actually taken him out at the end of games. So for most of his career he has been in the game still during the crucial times... There are only 2 years really that Shaq could have had gotten another title and that was his last year with the Lakers. That team should have been the best team, but they had lots of problems with actually being a "TEAM" with him and Kobe's problems. So they ended up getting beat by a team that actually played as a "TEAM." The only other year that he might have been able to win a title was his first year with the Heat, because if Wade didn't get hurt in game 5 he might have made it to the finals. Both of those times though had nothing to do with his free throw shooting... Yes better free throw shooting would make his stats even better, but it would not have got him another title...

I thought I might bring it up again after reading this in today's Lexington Herald: "Word out of Boston is that Rajon Rondo has lost his backup point guard spot to Delonte West. NBA defenses are reportedly carrying on the college tradition of daring Rondo to shoot." Rondo now plays about 2-5 minutes a game.
