Clyde Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Suing over the use of "The Shoe." Ohio State sues Cincinnati casino over ?Shoe? name | The Columbus Dispatch
NKY Bandit Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Interesting. Gambling site being sued by an organization where gamblers obsess.
lawildcat Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Article states that OSU has also trademarked the name "Urban Meyer". I wonder how he feels about that. What happens when Urban leaves OSU someday?!
SSC Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Kind of useless. The Cincy casino will no longer be named the Horseshoe and Caesars will have nothing to do with the casino within the next 6 months. They filed for partial bankruptcy protection or something like that and they dropped the 2 Ohio casinos as part of that.
BirdBrain Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Maybe they could change the name to The Art Schlichter Palace....wouldn't that make everyone, including Art, happy ?

MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 The level of narcissism that oozes out of THE Ohio State University has no bounds.
LCDAWGS19 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I hear they're going to sue every business with the word "THE" in the title next.
CincySportsFan Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 The level of narcissism that oozes out of THE Ohio State University has no bounds. Yeah, because no other university has ever done something as stupid as this. Oh, wait... UK disputes trademark of 'Kentucky' on Kentucky moonshine distillery's T-shirts | Lexington Herald-Leader
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Yeah, because no other university has ever done something as stupid as this. Oh, wait... UK disputes trademark of 'Kentucky' on Kentucky moonshine distillery's T-shirts | Lexington Herald-Leader A) I'm not a UK guy. B) I'd hardly call this the first (or 12th) example of THE Ohio State University exhibiting narcissistic behavior.
tark the shark Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 The level of narcissism that oozes out of THE Ohio State University has no bounds. I have more respect for the late great Benny Binion (Founder of the Horseshoe) than anyone from that University to the North.
Jim Schue Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Will they be suing UC next? Or did that have something to do with why "The Shoemaker Center" fell out of favor a decade ago — perhaps a "cease and desist" letter from Columbus?
75center Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 It sounds over the top but I understand protecting a trademark from another business. I probably wouldn't pursue it but have no problem with OSU. I doubt very much if they're really competing with each other but these things are often pursued just to put it out there in case other businesses are of a mind to use the trademark.
JDEaston Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 What a joke. And people wonder why the dollar symble isn't allowed when referencing OSU on this site lol.
