Top 10 Kentucky teams

Featured Replies

Colonels have a LOT of interesting parts Grades 9 thru 12. The assembly will be interesting & fun to watch.

My biggest questions . .

Can 2 of these 3 provide a lot of boards & minutes (Zig, Heppler, Walter)?

Is young Ruthsatz ready to be a factor on Varsity level, or still a year away?

Replacing Schu will be difficult. N.Thelen may be a similar player, but only a Frosh.

IMO the leading rebounder for the team will be Mayer. As you know, those Mayer boys know how to go get the ball.

I've said previously that Aiden is going to be highly scrutinized between his brother, his dad, and his age PLUS the high profile of the program. CVH can run point as well.

I love Andy Flood's game, he maximizes his talent. I wish more kids were like him.

CC will be good but not top five in state good. I still think Cooper wins the 9th and Sean McNeil becomes the top player in the 9th. Don't base your opinion of this Cooper team on their first meeting with Cov Cath in December. Hendrix will just be getting out of football and will need at least a month to get into a rhythm. Cant wait to see them play in March.

I hope there are 4 or 5 teams that can legitimately win the 9th. Makes it more fun.

That's good point on Aiden. I hope he has a great career at CCH.

I really think there is. I don't see CC running away and hiding from anyone in the 9th. Cooper, NCC, Newport will be very solid. One injury for any of these teams will hurt their chances. If Arnold and Moore can give Holmes quality minutes they will be solid. I look for the 9th to be the wild wild west this season. Anybody can win on any given night.

Will be a good thread to revisit as the season unfolds.

I have been on the Cooper is #2 wagon before it was cool, but I think the gap from #1 to #2 is a wide one. I agree that the game the 1st week of December will ultimately tell us very little. CovCath just has so much organizational depth, they have a ton of high level players, not to mention CVH for two more years. I love McNeil and love his game, but he hasn't shown the Alpha Dog ingredient yet that I've been wanting to see. He also, while having Kunkel (whom I'm a HUGE fan of) and Hendrix to run with, doesn't have near the depth of talent around him that Cole does. I am also a HUGE Sully fan -- love how he runs his program and how he relates to his kids.

NCC, Holmes, and Newport have plenty of talent, but I think they are firmly, in some order, in the 3-5 spots in the 9th. You could convince me Cooper is at the bottom of the State's Top 20, or at least will end up there, and I think they and Campbell Co. would be very similarly ranked if I had a gun to my head. CovCath should begin in that 4-8 range, and play the craziest schedule I can recall seeing for a NKY team, so we'll certainly not be left wondering if they can compete with the big boys.

I. Can't. Wait. To. Get. Hoops. Started.

Owning "being the man" is next on the development list for Sean.

I definitely like Bullitt East in the top 10 starting out. They are solid and have some depth.

Luke Ezell!!!!!

Don't make Tyler angry. You won't like him when he is angry.

So, two 9th region teams in the top 3 and no 11th region team in the top 10. With Dunbar, Lafayette, and Henry Clay, the 11th's top 3 teams are better than the 9th's top 3. NCC in the top 5?????

And while I like seeing a second 12th region team listed, you've listed the third best team in the 12th region as the 8th best team in the state.

Don't be surprised if Lawrence Co comes out of nowhere and cracks the top 10. LC has never made the Sweet 16. If they don't make it this year they might never make it. Team loaded with scorers and can run. Sr Robert Dalton can throw it down 360, reverse ball down to the ankles etc. Extremely athletic. Jr Timmy Dalton is good enough to put up in the 30's some nights. Sr QB Grant Kiser gives stability. Sr Brandon Richardson can drop 20+ a night. Sr Austin Chaffins can also drop points in the 20-30 range. This team will be fun to watch this year. Should be LC's best team ever I think.
