Walter Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Eli Wright leads 22 FT with 20 points over Matt Coleman and the #3 ranked Oak Hill Warriors. Justin Miller also had 13 points for 22 FT. Oak Hill without Harry Giles but still a big win for Eli and his team.
The Professor Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Where is 22 Feet located? I'm not completely sure but I believe there was a team by that name a few years ago in Breathitt County. They practiced at the Oakdale school gym, a private Christian school not far from Jackson.

I think they had some kind of issue getting certified and I think they moved to South Carolina as a result.

Wireman Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Same team. They are now in Greeneville, SC. They are well-coached, established and legit.
Clyde Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I cannot imagine how bad the education kids at 22 Ft Academy are getting.
Wireman Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I cannot imagine how bad the education kids at 22 Ft Academy are getting. They go to a high school just like everyone else.
theguru Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I cannot imagine how bad the education kids at 22 Ft Academy are getting. What is your basis for that stance?
Smallhoops Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 22 Feet Academy's website indicates their students attend school at the Shannon Forest Christian School, which has an enrollment of over 500 for grades PK-12.
Clyde Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 What is your basis for that stance? I was mistaken in thinking it was also a school. There are now so many schools being created for basketball purposes that education is secondary and terrible. You often see kids transcripts being questioned and denied from these types of schools.

I am all for specialized schools as long as the academics are at a high level too. Anything less, get rid of them.
Clyde Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I am all for specialized schools as long as the academics are at a high level too. Anything less, get rid of them. When a school is put together for basketball first, as many of these are, academics are not the priority. Getting eligible is the priority. You think a teacher is going to fail a kid when the people that are her bosses put the school together for that kid to play basketball?
Wireman Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I know the folks at 22 Feet Academy. They do things the right way.

You think a teacher is going to fail a kid when the people that are her bosses put the school together for that kid to play basketball? Obviously places like that need strict oversight. Part of the deal should be they have to pay for a state compliance officer that will have an office in their school and review and audit everything pertaining to academic standards.
HoopJunkie Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 I cannot imagine how bad the education kids at 22 Ft Academy are getting. They go to a normal school and play basketball at 22 Feet. Same thing as Huntington Prep. Those kids all go to a school in Huntington, but don't play there.
