If they lose to Vandy, he really might be let go at the end of the year IMO. That's the only scenario I see where he doesn't get at least one more year.

He won't be gone.

The fans will want him gone, but Mitch will not do that or else he is back where he started a few years ago. I agree with the idea that Stoops knew what he was getting into, but I'm not sure he fully understood how quick the fans will turn right to basketball and criticize his program. Progress is still being made just not that much in the last few weeks, but to calm the storm he has to beat Vandy, plain and simple.

To those who say he won't be gone (for sure) with a loss to Vanderbilt, consider that it would likely mean another year without a bowl, and may leave him (with a loss to Louisville) a win shy of Joker Phillips' total record (with equivalent losses) that he had when he was fired. Now, that's not a direct parallel because Stoops has ever so slightly raised the level from where it was when Joker handed it to him, and Brooks handed Joker a program in better shape, but the point remains that through three years Stoops will have not achieved even a .500 record, no bowls, and four total wins in the SEC. This year's edition squeaked out wins over the likes of UL Lafayette and EKU, and that was when the going was good as they have now faceplanted in ugly fashion. I'm just saying, if they take what would be their fifth straight loss and ended the year with losses in six of their final seven, that'd be a a track record that is arguably firable.

Okay, they lost to Western and South Carolina and barely edged Middle Tenn.

Using Western isn't a good example either. Houston and Western are both far ahead of UK at this point.

I'm talking about 3 win Vandy who you all are claiming has already beaten UK I don't get it.

Your right, but unfortunately I feel like Towles could throw the game away on his own. Literally. Poor fella seems to be getting worse, instead of progressing. On the other hand the coaches seem to have no faith in the other qb's. So IMO, if Towles plays poorly, i can't see UK winning this one

I think he's safe this season, bowling or not, if he don't go bowling, I think the seat gets a little warmer, if he gets 6-7-8 wins next year and goes bowling, I think it calms down some.

He's safe for now.

Boom will play.

Boom will play.

That's the difference I'm taking UK and the points.

I don't see Vandy winning this game, but if they do, those who say Stoops is gone who would you want to see to replace him. Do you think Kentucky would be able to get one of the AAC coaches?

I'd go after Herman, but he wouldn't take it IMO. He'll have much better options than Kentucky at season's end.

Academic discussion.

Columbia, SC realtors already getting their sales pitches ready.

I think the odds are quite good that Kentucky losses this game. Hell, unless a QB change is made, I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose out. If they miss a bowl game, I think Stoops is shown the door.
