In case you haven't noticed, Kentucky is bordered by 7 states with alot of High Schools on the border.

Now as for the P'Burg situation, it goes on in public schools all over this state and country. Kudos to Prestonburg officials for turning it over to KHSAA and now that it is closed they will move on and continue to a strong program.

I may be wrong on this, but I recall seeing something on similar past incidents at other schools that said the fine was required to come from the school's general fund.

Nice shot at Belfry, but you, The Lex Herald, P-Burg, and about 5,000 other people/schools have looked deep, deep, into it and found nothing..........

Yes it does and not just football but all sports and not just boys but girls too.

And like Stick1 said, alot of people get caught up in the Public vs. Private issue because Private schools win state titles over Public schools.

Because the p-burg program got put on probation, will they be able to compete in the playoffs for the next two years.

Everyone keeps saying kudos to Prestonsburg for turning themselves in for this, give me a break.

 

Prestonsburg doesn't have a good track record and for them to turn themselves in just sounds fishy to me. An assistant football coach, up for re-election, commits a violation. He's gone from the program as the school hurries to clean up the incident.

 

Do you honestly think that someone at the school just out of the blue said, "Hey, we committed a violation, we need to report it before we get in trouble."

 

No, someone wanting to cause trouble brought this up, exposing Barber who is up for re-election, told the AD who warned the school to do something before it got out-of-hand. THAT'S MY OPINION ONLY.

 

I just find it hard to believe that Prestonsburg decided to be altar boys and come clean. Too much has been done on & off the field for Prestonsburg to suddenly try to play by the rules and voluntarily admit to guilt.

 

Besides, it was common knowledge to everyone that follows county sports that the two young men in question left AC for Prestonsburg for sports. It's been happening for years.

It is finally evident that sweeping "crimes" under the rug just doesn't work for Prestonsburg Football anymore. I really hate it that the seniors this year that are really fine young men have to pay again for what the coaches allow to go on. When these seniors were freshman they had no idea what really was in store for them at football camp. What happened to them still isn't over yet. I have nothing but respect for the boys that continued with the program after camp that year. Coach Barber succeeded in causing players to quit just because they told the truth. The seniors can hold their heads high and know they have done nothing wrong in the years they have stuck with the program. I agree with other posters that there must be a change of leadership for the football program in order for it to ever be respected as it once was.

That must have come from someplace other than the fan section, Hearsay, or from some other fans. :sleep: I'd remember if I had heard that coming from our fan section. :eek:

I'll weigh in here:

 

The criticism I have against my team is...there's NO excuse whatsoever for a coach not being aware that the administration official to whom potential transfers are to be reported is the Principal, and NOT the Asst. Principal/AD. "Ignorance" is NOT an excuse for any coach.

 

OTOH, I'm pleased to see Mr. George played the situation square and did what he was supposed to do - report the violation to KHSAA.

 

One other thing that needs to be said:

 

Other teams "doing the same thing" over state lines or not has absolutely NO bearing. I don't care how or where "XYZ High" got their talent. I want my alma mater to "do it right".

 

In today's game I'm not sure it's even possible to reach the top while "doing it right". If it should ever happen, however...it will mean MUCH more than it otherwise would.
