Prestonsburg put on probation by KHSAA

Featured Replies

Anyone know the years of the players involved?

I think the Blackcats made it to the finals in AA in what 2001? Were any of these guys involved with that team?

I believe it's from the past year, involving two kids from Allen Central. If I had the Big Sandy Paper in front of me, I could tell you more about it. Didn't pick up the paper today, but heard more info was in there.

Tried to read the story online, but I'm not a subscriber to the paper. Maybe someone else can give some more info.

Not sure if this links directly to the story or if it just takes you to the front page of the paper. If not, the link is near the top of the page.

I'm not either. I just clicked on the headline and the whole article was there. I wish, however, the writer would've bothered to say what class the two players (who she named) were in, or if they are graduated.

No, just this past season

WOW !!! Just saw this thread, that is bad for everyone all the way around. I hate to hear that.

Heck, I'm glad to see that the people in control of the school reported the violation to the KHSAA. You have to respect the people who want to play by the rules no matter who is involved. IMO Prestonsburg will be better off in the long run because of this probation.

And if it was who cares...Remember that Highlands won the AAA State Championship in 2004 with a 2-13 record because of an ineligiable player:sssh: Highlands was fined and put on probation but got to keep the title:sleep: I believe in precedence and this set it NOT a good one to set:devil:

I'm not shocked one bit. I've said over and over that people get caught up in this Public vs Private garbage and don't have a clue where the recruiting really goes on! While they are in the area they need to take a serious look at some of the schools that seem to be getting transfers in the area and kids from across the state line!

What does this probation mean in tangible terms? Are their any sanctions beyond the six thousand bucks? If not then they are probably lucky that the KHSAA was this lenient because of the repeat offenses with the program.

We had a big brouhaha here two or three years ago when a certain running back transferred to Prestonsburg from Johnson Central and was declared ineligible by the KHSAA. Makes me wonder ...

There was also the situation that led to them forfeiting their entire 2003 season because of another set of KHSAA rules violations.

How can this be? I thought Prestonsburg was a public school.

The lily-white, clean, pure-as-the-driven-snow public schools in a RECRUITING violation??!!

They MUST have been framed by the evil private schools, a la the DaVinci Code conspiracy....

:thumb: You make a very good point, it also may just wake up a few others that are alleged to br doing the same type of thing.

Just asking a question.

Just an honest question with no agenda and looking for details. I was trying to place the time frame and was curious since the original link only mentioned probation and no details. Not sure why the Highlands reference since I'm a Boyle County grad.

Lets not turn this into something it isn't. Keep the public/private debates in their own forum.

Like LexCath, this is for another thread too, but in the end I thought Highlands won the last appeal at the highest court level meaning in the real world Highlands would get their victories back if they pushed the issue. Either way, this is for another thread.
