What really gets me about this is the stupidity of Barber. He offers them a place to live, yet they already live in Prestonsburg which has an open enrollment policy. Just amazingly stupid.

 

Glad to see he is a 'former' coach. Prestonsburg doesn't need this type of activity. They have a strong program without this.

Plus two years probation. The violations were self-reported which usually leads to a lesser punishment. Like MountainThunder, the thing that stands out for me is that what Barber did was unnecessary. The students approached him which indicates they were willing to come without enticements and residency would not have been an issue.

And coach Derossett is one of the finest individuals that has ever lived!

I have always liked Derossett, yet something needs to be done. This is two seperate violations in 2 years, and as the KHSAA report says, this shows instability in the Prestonsburg program.

 

I think it's funny though that Principal Ted George is deflecting any wrongdoing by the school, saying the school "unintentionally" broke the rules.

 

Give me a break. Prestonsburg has always been a football school and they will to no length to keep the program up every year, whether it be recruiting or keeping a hazing incident quiet.

 

Doesn't matter, the beat goes on for blue bloods.

I'm not shocked one bit. I've said over and over that people get caught up in this Public vs Private garbage and don't have a clue where the recruiting really goes on! While they are in the area they need to take a serious look at some of the schools that seem to be getting transfers in the area and kids from across the state line!

What people are you talking about. The folks who support the program and fans don't see where Prestonsburg has done anything wrong in this. The principal says it himself - they unintentionally did something wrong.
