Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Featured Replies

Does anyone else suffer from this? Before I developed it, I just assumed that it was something that was just an annoyance, but not that big of a deal. But wow...I can barely even grip a spoon or a knife to do food prep. My writing suffers, too, due to having to hold a pen differently. Man, this sucks!

My wife has it. She had every symptom you talked about. Her's got so bad that she had to have surgery. It helped some but it will never be the same again.

That's what I hear about the surgery. My sister also has it, seems to be a bit worse than me.

I had it bad at 5 different times in my life. I had to wear special hand braces at night because my hands would lose all circulation. The cause? Pregnancy. Each time the discomfort ended at childbirth.

My wife has from time to time had to wear the braces at night also. She also has had to have trigger thumb surgery. This is where her thumb would lock in place when she bent it.

Sorry to hear you're dealing with this, TB&G. I pray you can find a beneficial treatment!

I've struggled with it for years. Braces at night too. The surgery works for some but not a high enough rate for me to roll the dice with it. It's a daily battle with life's simplest task. So frustrating. Hang in there TB&G.

I had it in both hands almost 20 years ago so bad I couldn't use a computer for more then a few minutes without my hands going numb. Woke up at night completely numb. It was terrible. I use my hands a lot for work so it was a huge issue.

Had the surgery and no trouble since. I put the surgery off for a couple of years, tried splints, injections, vitamins etc. Nothing helped. Biggest mistake EVER. Had I known how successful and easy the process was going to be I would have done it much sooner. If you have it severely enough find a good surgeon (I know several, PM me and I'll recommend) and get it fixed.

Had the surgery as well. My issue was numbness. The healing process took longer than expected but no issues since.

I'm going to have to look into this at some point.

Figured there was a reason I never developed it.

Had it for several years. My doc says that I still have good muscle tone in my hand so surgery not warranted yet. Mostly doesn't produce much pain, but there is ache, fatigue with grip (like while riding motorcycle) and numbness. Someone I know says don't put off the surgery because she waited a while and then was so pleased with the results she wishes she hadn't waited.

I sometimes have flare-ups after mowing the lawn. The vibrations of the mower's engine seems to give me problems. I could never get a motorcycle.

Could be this as well. CTS, this and others I have/did study some as part of my job...all can be related to repetitive motion, vibratory and other stressors in the work place.

My experience exactly. The surgery was so easy, the recovery so problem free and the results so good that I kicked myself for waiting and suffering with it for as long as I did.
