Completley disagree. Shoot the second interceoption came on 3rd and 25. So I doubt the second interception effected him at all. Shoot it was a smart play by taking that chance down field and then intercepting it probably helped the Bengals win. Without that the Steelers get great field position after the punt and possibly a Brown return for td since his returns have came when the Bengals are punting pinned back.

 

From everything I hear about the game update thread — which I have not seen — there is a whole different Dalton story being told up until Nelson's INT.

 

He was totally crapping himself, and Ben and the Bengals defense bailed him out.

Burfict made the play of the game when he jumped on the back of Bell's legs to finish off the Steelers for this year.

 

Never want to see any player get hurt and it was pretty obvious it was just one of those things that happens. Hope it is not too serious for him. He is outstanding.

I thought he could have let up once they got close to the sideline but he didn't. Steelers haven't been close to full strength all year. If the Bengals stay away from the injury bug they have a chance to win a playoff game this year. Need to get the 1-2 seed.

While I'll admit it's not a terribly big sample size, the two closest Bengals fans to me — my brother and one of my best friends, both imminently reasonable to the point I restrain myself — both agreed Dalton was in the process of a mass colonal ejection until Ben and Bengals D bailed him out.

That's just silly... Dalton made a great game winning pass to AJ at Pitt in 2012 to put the Bengals in the playoffs and send the Steelers home... He also did pretty well today considering the terrible offensive line play and the lack of running plays called. He's had one of the best 5 year runs in the history of the NFL at QB... 4 playoff appearances in a row and on their way to a 5th. And this with the BENGALS... One of the historically worst franchises in the NFL... Give the kid a break... Jeez. Admittedly, the defense won this game... But the offense won the first 6 games..

This game was not a thing of beauty on either side, but the bottom line is the Bengals got the W. The offensive line got pushed around (which surprised me), the Bengals really didn't even try to run the ball after half way through the first quarter, and Andy showed shades of the the "bad Andy" of years gone by.

 

However, got to give them credit (especially the defense and special teams outside of the blocked field goal), for hanging in there and beating a desparate Steelers team at their place. To play in a tough enviroment, struggle most of the game on offense, and still stay undefeated, got to give the Bengals a tip of the cap. Once again, this doesn't happen very often as a Bengal fan, enjoy the ride. WHO DEY!

You can't not go out and win that game after what the defense did there, and really, all he needed was a FG there and play the attrition game, because the Steelers couldn't score.

Most of the first half he had no time to throw and had guys in his face. It wasn't like games in past years when he had time and still just sucked. When he had time today he made good throws and did it at the end too, except for the end zone one.

Here is the thing about Dalton.I was basically done with Dalton this whole off season because of how he has always looked horrible in big moments or games. In the past in these games even when he had time he would just flat out suck. Today he had pressure on him all day and yet he still made throws when it mattered and made throws when he did have time. In the past he wouldnt be able to do that after being pressured all day. Even just the look and demeaner still seemed better today even in the end. That is why I don't agree with the Dalton sucks comments that was all in the update thread. Was it a great game by him like the rest this year, nope. A lot of it had to do with poor pass protection. He can't make that interception in the end zone, but I don't think that had to do with choking or feeling the pressure. It was just a basic football play that he made a poor read on thinking the guy would be wide open. They didn't win the game because of him, but didn't win the game despite of him like many other times in the past. He was not great but not horrible either.

A quarterback who has had a litany of problems in his career in pressure-filled games probably wasn't thinking about the big picture in terms of flipping the field. He was thinking about how he once again blew it in a big game.
