I heard on the radio post game that Bisshop Brossart plays on a "small, grade school field", as they are a new program. First thing I thought was ....SO ? They are 9-1, meaning out of lining up 10 times, they "kicked nine butts". That tells me that they are petty dang good, will be at home and Raceland will have to match this same effort to win.

 

They play in a pretty large venue......Campbell County's former varsity field. The Camels built a new stadium and Brossart took residence in the old stadium. But small and grade school like it is not.

I enjoyed watching games at the old Campbell stadium. The new one is obviously a major upgrade, but the stadium size and seating provides plenty of room. Good luck to both teams; this is the one that I will be attending for Round 1. This may be one of the better games going on in the first round statewide.

We knew Raceland practiced at home . Too many Raceland/Russell fans were sending the texts and tweets. I always figured it would be whoever had the ball last. It was good to finally have this game back on the schedule. I was home crying myself to sleep much earlier than had it been a game 2 hours away lol. Congrats Rams and good luck in post play.

One thing I noticed all night was that the slant rout was open all night long for Russell with no safety in the middle. Russell refused to throw the ball to the kid. He breaks one tackle and he's gone. I don't know why we have coach's up in the box if they can't see that.

 

Anyway, Russell will not go far in the playoffs anyway. We just cannot play well against good teams.

This victory could be a season changer for the Rams. Even though our pass defense, was again suspect and we got popped for 200+ yards and 3 TDs from McKee, but, we didnt give up the big play, got alot of pressure on McKee and held Conley to 59 yards rushing. So happy for the program and community, but more importantly for the guys that were on the field last night. They desperately needed this win to build up some confidence going into the playoffs. When we headed into over time, I thought, "No way we live there with a win. With everything that is on the line, Senior Night, On Ivan's field, Russell needs the win to seal the #1 seed..."

 

Then our defense happened, then it happened again, and again, and again. So glad and proud to see that fire and determination back in the boys again. Who knows what happens from here on out for the Rams, but if that team in orange and black takes the field every week, I feel like we can hang with anyone in the class and have a chance to win.

 

As for Russell, reading alot of statements and the tables have seemingly turned. This loss sucks for them I know, I hate it for them (but not too much lol/jk), but they have a good team, solid defense, a really nice QB, and a play maker in Conley. They should rebound and pick up a solid win over Pike Central. Both of these squads will have tall orders, should they see the second round of the playoffs. Good luck to the Devils in the post season.

This was the ONLY game that we have played like Raceland and the ONLY game we have played to this team's potential all year. Anyone who has watched these kids from several years ago through now can attest to this. IF the boys can play this way throughout the playoffs, who knows what happens.

Russells overtime play calling still shocks me idk what was going on. Correct me if I'm wrong but at Raceland I don't think Tj had much influence on the offensive play calling but after talking to someone in the Russell program they say Evans and Maynard both call plays. If I was TJ I'd stay in the defensive side and let Evans worry about the O
