Best game for the Rams since Valley. Heck of a game.

Raceland's spirit is alive and well... at least for one more week. As for Russell, I'm not sure what to think about the Devils at this point. The last three weeks didn't impress me much. Tonight, they had a chance to impress at home on senior night and couldn't get it done.

This entire Ram team played one of their best games of the season and it certainly was needed to outlast a very good Russell Football team. I know that this one was Extra Sweet for the Ram players ....being @ Russell and against a coach that left Raceland for the Red Devil Job. Russell fans, coaches and players ... you have nothing to hang your head over, have a very good football team and good luck to you in your playoffs ... :thumb:

 

As for our Rams ....I. Wallace, K. Snyder, A. Howard, and Walker made plays all night. All of the Raceland players won this one, the ones mentioned I thought had excellent games. A few changes on the defensive side of the football paid off ..... our RAM Defense played outstanding all night. I honestly thought the fake punt that didn't convert would cost the Rams this game. (at least the radio guys said it was a called fake and not a mistake on the snap or handling of the ball), I couldn't believe that a "fake" punt was the call backed up on our 26 but our coaches know far more football than I. At any rate, all worked out and it's on to Bishop Brossart for the opening round of the playoffs.

The "ORANGE CRUSH / Ram Swagger" is back ! I hope that these kids carry this win, effort into the playoffs.

 

(Also, and on a side note ... I also want to say a congrats to West Carter and coach Kevin Brown on your first District Championship in school history. Coach Brown is respected all over our NEKY area and one cannot find a more class act anywhere.)

Despite Raceland's recent struggles, this wasn't an upset, IMO. Russell's been on easy street as of late and I'm afraid that may have hurt them tonight. The Rams are more battle tested. At the end of the day, Russell and Raceland are fairly even this year.

I agree. Just stating what many said after the Rams loss to Paintsville. No doubt in my mind the Rams have a solid team.

Another Rail Cities Bowl Win .... 6-1 vs. Russell (with 6 consecutive wins-4 consecutive Ram Wins at Russell) since this rivalry was renewed. (I believe that this closes the overall rivalry series record to 27-21 in favor of Russell).

Those are very kind words and I will say that I don't think that there is much separation in these two teams at all, as this score and in ot showed. IMO These teams play 10 times - would be a 5 / 5 split.

Now, go get whoever your opponent may be in the playoffs, it would be nice to have two KY. State Champions with the 1 mile separating the two. :thumb:

I have been really quiet for the past few weeks. My mama always said, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Well, our boys showed up tonight and played well. Congrats to both teams. Great game to be at and witness.

Raceland warmed up at home and showed up 15 min before kickoff. Road the bus fully dressed and helmets on. Very focused and ready to play.

I heard on the radio post game that Bisshop Brossart plays on a "small, grade school field", as they are a new program. First thing I thought was ....SO ? They are 9-1, meaning out of lining up 10 times, they "kicked nine butts". That tells me that they are petty dang good, will be at home and Raceland will have to match this same effort to win.

(coach Heck (70's) and Ross (80's-90's) pulled that on Paris when they first played at Raceland (were coming off state championship) - Heck had the team warm up at the baseball field in Worthington, sent the captains separate for the coin toss - followed by the school bus pulling into the gate "rocking back and forth", the kick off team rolled out and went directly on the field, lined up. Rams beat #1 ranked Paris 14-7 in ot.

Ross pulled the same thing at Westwood ...the Eagles were unbeaten, after entering through the gate on the track, Ross had the driver pull up directly on the Fairview side, unloaded in front of the Fairview bench / players finishing warm ups ..., needless to say, game over and Raceland won, taking the district championship.

 

I fully realize that post meant nothing - I am still fired up. :clap:
