How good a player is her son projected to be?

 

He should turn out to be pretty good. He had the "green light" all year last year, I expect he will at HC also.

 

I do want to say, whatever everyone thinks of this move, and I personally find it a little strange, her son is a very good kid. I will always root for Spence to have a great career.

Finally, someone asking a serious question and not whining.... Spencer Macke is projected and is a very good player. Nice shot from the outside and nice footwork around the basket and will be good size.... I'd say that he is a 4 for freshman ball and a 3 for varsity. Other players in the class are Ty Houston and Clay Coleman. They add a lot size and some good ole HC pedigree. I see two, or all, playing a lot of jv this year also.

 

I have seen Spencer play on a few occasions the last couple of years. He is a very nice player for sure. He should contribute at Holy Cross nicely. The same could of been said if he would of went to NCC.....JMO! I know, enough already but just can't figure out why they made the move to Covington and not 3 minutes up US 27 to the Hill. I guess we will never know!

My understanding is she has coached a lot of AAU.

 

My son played against her team a few times the last couple of years. Good coach. Kids play hard. Gets everything out of them. Each time we played them they played extremely fast. Seemed like she knew alot about basketball, and made solid in game decisions.

On a side note, I see that HC plays their games in the Msgr. Thomas B Finn Activity Center. Is this the same Father Finn that was a pastor at St. Thomas in Ft. Thomas back in the 70's ?? What's the connection? @nkypete?

Regarding HC basketball (girls and boys), I read this stuff in the same way as the rest of you. Thank God, I only have ties to the football program.

What are her qualifications to coach at the high school level? I remember Troy Houston as a player and was wondering if he has ever coached at the high school level?

 

They have both coached a lot of years in AAU. This same tandem coached the winning 14u boys National Championship team in Orlando this past summer. Trisha has coached both boys and girls for a number of years. Her girls team has made it to the National Championship twice. Troy has coached with the NKY Warriors team prior to joining with Trisha. They know basketball.

Her resume seems to tell me she's qualified to be the head coach.

Yes they both know Basketball. One of them knows a little more than Basketball and she will let you know about it as well. I had 1 and only 1 conversation with her throughout our passing's. Talk about letting you know who's in Control! Heck, I was just asking her how to plant a Tree.:dancingpa

Sounds like there are a lot of people at Highlands upset with this and I don't know why? Highlands is a great school, one of the best in the state (not better than Manual). Holy Cross is a great school too. Macke might be upset with Highlands about whatever and wants to send her kids to a school she'll like, so good for her and good for Highlands. That's less complaining at games, coaches have less distractions, everyone gets what they want. I don't see why this is a big deal?
