LOL. That kid is on everyones wish list. Dontae, if you are reading this.... come to Beechwood.

Did you hear about Cord of Wood trying to get Dontae Allen to come to Beechwood?

They have both coached a lot of years in AAU. This same tandem coached the winning 14u boys National Championship team in Orlando this past summer. Trisha has coached both boys and girls for a number of years. Her girls team has made it to the National Championship twice. Troy has coached with the NKY Warriors team prior to joining with Trisha. They know basketball.

D1?

She seems to know her stuff and it sounds like her son is a great kid and basketball player. Hate to lose him but good luck to both of them.

Nevermind, i read the rest of the post. So Highlands is losing a kid that could be really good. Oh well

Not about that at all.

Not about that at all.

Then I'm back to square 1 cause the kid is an 8th grader. Every parent has their reasons for sending their kid where ever they want. Highlands is a great school, not arguing that one bit, but it's not perfect for everyone. If a coach at a private school (which recruits every student and their families in their building) says we can set this up so all parties are happy without crossing a line, then I don't see the problem. It sounds like you're saying the basketball program is doing something wrong

^^^Really? Are you trying to Rob them of their achievements?

I'm asking? When I hear "National Champion" I feel like that's the winner of the D1 championship. Just about anytime it's a D2 championship, it's preceeded with D2 National Champions. So I'm asking, did they win the D1?

I am not sure the proper way to handle a discussion about this on BGP but the question that comes to my mind as I read through this thread is the dreaded R word. I know it happens and have first hand knowledge of it happening at a couple of area schools. My question is what are coaches allowed to do on bringing players to their school?

Judging is done by you , me, everyone all day long. Why? Because we are humans with brains.

I think you know the answer already, but it was D2. Does that change what you think? I think they won the D1 Ky State.

I think that's exactly what he is saying! Serious question, why would they leave Ft Thomas with what they have going on with Academics & Facilities and go to arguably one of the Worst Facilities in NKY.

What's wrong with HC facilities? Yes, they're old but the gym is fine. What are they missing that HHS has ?

I think he's including the field house they just finished

With the growth of the showcase type events and Nike, Adidas and Under Armour basically having their own circuits now AAU is no longer the premier event.

While their are still elite teams and organizations that participate in AAU the competition level is just not what it used to be. I just don't get that excited when I hear about teams making a run in D2.

If you feel you are good enough to win the D2 championship play D1 and at least go against the best that play at the AAU level. Just my opinion....
