Opposite of a Gun Free Zone

Featured Replies

Isn't part of the logic behind a conceal carry license that you don't have to broadcast to those in the room that you have a weapon on you, and therefore not making you an immediate target in the event that a "robber" does come in and try to shoot the place up?

The owner is sending a clear message that it's a pro gun zone. Not the ideal place to rob.

Yeah I completely agree...but, and maybe this is just me, I've always been of the belief that the fewer people that know you are concealing a weapon the better. Maybe that doesn't apply in this situation.

Yeah I know you mean. If I owned a retail store I would do the same thing, it's basically hiring a guard without putting one on the payroll.

So, did you get the discount?

I will be in Indy before the end of the year and will eat there and will refuse the discount to thank the owner.

Going to ask a hypothetical: what if a robber attempts to rob and then a gun fight breaks out and Bystanders are injured both carrying and not. Will the store owner have any liability for welcoming the concealed and carry owners in? If I was a store owner I would check that before I started giving discounts.

Assuming the robberies have not had an insider on the restaurant staff...I would think that just this getting out will be enough of a deterrent for future robbers. THEY will be the ones not knowing if someone else is packing. You could go in and have no one carrying, or you could go in and have 25...you just won't know.

That's because you're first class.

Why is it a problem to invite law abiding citizens into your store? If I was a by stander and a guy came into the store with a gun to rob it, I would be VERY GLAD if a guy with a concealed carry was in there too.

Can I get the discount if I bring a water gun? :D

No it's his right to run his business how he wants. I'm actually see it the opposite way, business that ban guns and don't provide protection should be held liable for not allowing citizens to protect themselves.

You don't have to show the weapon itself.

As long as you show them your concealed carry permit, yes. (& we all know you have one!)

As long as I know either way then I can make my decision whether to use the services or not. But I should be able to know.

I would choose not to go there, but I could care less who did.
