What about a 4 sport athlete? Is there even any way to do that?

CJ Seay at Scott: Soccer & Football as kicker, Basketball & Baseball

It seems the "specialization" was brought on by the AAU/select coaches more so than high school coaches, imo. Which seems crazy to me. Playing multiple sports gives athletes more opportunities to not only succeed but fail.

If specialization is supposed to help athletes succeed and get to the next level, why is "what other sports do you play?" one of the first few questions out of a college coaches mouth?

What about the 4 sport stars? CJ Seay from Scott high school plays baseball, soccer, basketball and the kicker for football!

This is the poster-child for a student athlete.

Well done young man!

Yes, it is. Lots of three sport athletes but not many with the academic pedigree.

A year ago, Paris High School had an athlete that was a star in five sports. Very rare that you get kids to play one or two sports … but five? Jamaal Washington was a key returner and receiver on the football team; was an all-region goalie on the soccer team; led Paris to the district title in basketball by scoring 26 points against GRC in a semifinal upset; ran anchor on the Hounds' 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams; and was the ace pitcher on the Greyhound baseball team!

What does he do in his spare time???

Derrick Barnes - Holy Cross

125 tackles last year as LB, big contributor on defense in basketball, big contributor for track & field

All kids are awesome but when I think of 3 sport athlete, it's going from one season to the next to the next. Not playing 2 sports at same time like soccer and football.

But congrats to all who do what the sorry no good pathetic lazy kids walking the halls who get treated better than the athletes representing their school wish they could do.

Luke Trimble (Sr Paintsville)

Football-Captain winningest team program history. 2 way starter+all special teams all 4 yrs. 28 TD's 12 int's (4or5 pick 6's).

Basketball-FIVE year starter Varsity PG!

Track-3 State track appearances.

Never missed a start in any sport!

GPA-3.8!

Harrison Co. had a five sport athlete letterman two years ago. Carr (forgot 1st name). Amazingly three fall sports (started QB on football, soccer, and leading cross country runner that qualified for state), starting point guard on basketball team, and multi-event man on track team in spring. Heard he was a great kid, too.

Anybody in the Ashland area know what sports Brown from West Carter plays? One of the most underrated athletes in KY. Not far off from Bakers speed. Know he is football+track. Outstanding family. I'd be shocked if he doesn't have great grades too!
