COV CATH vs TRINTY

Featured Replies

Covington Catholic traveled down to Trinty to face them in a passing scrimmage. For varsity Cov Cath stuck with them through the whole game Kurt Bovard had some amazing catches. Peter Sutton, Jace Ganshirt, Tom Willet, Brian Hennesy also had some good catches. Trinty also had some good catches from many players and had a strong D. Just wanted to see if you had any comments if you were thier.

I think both teams got in some great work. Trinity had no answer for #1. He came up with catch after catch when he was blanketed. I'd call it a draw.:thumb:

Bovard is absolutely the real deal. I look for him to be one of the leading receivers in the state this year. The only thing that will "hold him back" in the number of catches he has will be the fact that Petey Sutton is also on his team. Petey will get a large number of catches also. They very well may be the best two receivers on one team in Ky this year. Got a feeling their running backs are going to get many touches this year, but with those two receivers, I can't blame Rodenberg if he passes 80% of the time. Hope the teams CovCath plays this year have a lot of good defensive backs. They'll need them.

I wish these two could figure out a way to play in the regular season. Seems it would be a competitive game.

^ Problem is our current obligations....Manual, MBA, and X are our only NON-District games, our monster District fills our schedule with mundane opponents.

#1, wr was very good. Dropped a few easy catches, but made three spectacular ones. If he gains consistency, could be big star.

#22, qb had above average arm. Very good HS qb. Is he mobile?

#85, db excellent cover corner. Thought he was the best defender on the field. Sat on the comeback routes very well and ran with the wheels exceptionally.

Unfortunately some of our district games are more like bye weeks.

Too bad. Trinity would fit nicely with some of CovCath's other non district opponents:

Elder

Cincy St. X

Bishop Watterson (Columbus)

Covcathftball, how is Josh feeling? Everything "A-ok?"

RP, is that DB you were speaking of #85 or #26 (Castaneda?)?

L'neck is right on the money, Pete Sutton is a great complimentary WR / TE. He is quite a weapon over the middle of the field.

For the rest of you just reading, this is no surprise. CCH is loaded with some great skill players this year (and most years for that matter).

If Coach R can get his offense rolling the future looks extremely bright at CovCath.

Josh is feeling as good as he ever has as far as I know. If anythings hurting he definately isn't showing it or talking about it.

We weren't wearing our actual game jersey numbers. Everyone had on random practice jerseys so he could have been wearing any number. I don't remember exactly if Joe was wearing #85 or if it was Brandon Brown though.

I was told that both played very well.

He had them rolling last year and then they peaked too early. Funny thing about the spread offense. When you're on your game, and the timing clicks, it's undefendable. If your timing is off a little bit, you're 3 and out without taking any time off of the clock for most of the game. It's very difficult to get that timing back once you lose it. That's what appears to have happened to them last year, whether that had to do with defensive schemes catching up, I don't know.
