RC9, I wrote that last response before I read the part about you having a senior daughter. She play softball or basketball?

Really, you don't know by now. C'mon, keep trying. There are MANY that are close to you that can tell you. I'm not buying it!

I was just re reading that as well. dang I would hate to be last years senior players or parents at HHS finding out RC didn't care about losing last year because his kid wasn't a senior and doesn't care about the future since his will be gone. so why care about what other schools are doing for the future.

Maybe because it's not right!!! It's wrong! Wow! If you believe something is wrong, but it doesn't effect you directly, is that okay??

"Well the neighbor's house just got robbed, but he didn't get mine. So that's okay. Why are we putting him in jail, everyone robs houses these days. He didn't rob mine. What's all the fuss?"

And another hint...I have 4 kids and my senior is the oldest!

For those of you who have yet to see Kayla Saner play, don't let the mechanics of her shot in warmups fool you. It's not pretty...at al, but it goes in and does so from deep.

Heard shes a nice player. Excited to see her play.

I couldn't agree more! The first time I watched her workout I thought the same thing. She shot 42% from three this summer and showed an amazing ability to score the basketball.

She will be a great addition to the Boone team. She brings a very high basketball IQ with her.

RC, I have enjoyed reading both of these threads on HC baskeball and appreciate the passion you show. I feel that you are barking up the wrong tree. The finger should be pointed at the system KHSAA has in place. It allows for 7th and 8th graders to play "non contact" varsity sports. If NDA, NCC, HHS do not allow these players to play or do not have room for a player so be it and good for them. HC is doing nothing wrong allowing these students play athletics, that is how the system works. By the way HC is one heck of a school they do not get enough credit for their academics.

Parents and kids chase championships. Look at CCH on the boys side of BB. They now have 40 plus kids coming from all over the area to try and play in their BB program. Just like HHS Football program was in the past. In fact they have CVH playing for them. When he was an 8th grader he started at Villa. You did not hear their parents complaining about winning. Did you really think he would stay there.

Hopefully these families are looking at the education their kids are getting.Llets face it the majority of these kids will be done playing at the end of their high school career. Their education is forever. If they are making the choices that are best for their kids education and have a great high school sports experience, then good for them. IF they are chasing a championship then good luck with that.

Agreed. HC is just taking advantage of the rules that are in place.

First off...Great post! I agree with everything you are saying in your post.

Let me ask you a few questions and clarify a few things though:

*I'm not concerned with whether MS kids can play up or not. I coach and rely on a ton of MS participation in my sport to even field a team!

*Unfortunately, you're right. They do chase championships. It's a shame and this is part of my beef. But this is just my personal opinion and belief and is a very small part of what I'm saying here. But since you bring it up, by belief is that HS sports are for the homegrown kids from that area to get a chance to "go to battle" with kids they grew up with. Select sports are for chasing championships and creating powerhouse teams. How significant are HS championships if they are won by teams that were put together in HS???...regardless of how its done. To me, you should win if you are planning a team out for the future. Its more satisfying to go with what you have and battle til the end and the kids get to celebrate all their successes together...no matter how minor or major they are. They can sit around years from now and talk about it. If you assemble a team, when you talk about it years from now, all anyone is going to say it "Well no kidding, you should have won!" And it won't be you sitting with all you school teammates when it comes up because they would have gotten pushed aside!

*You mention kids coming from all over to play bball at CC and football at HHS. My question...are those kids being asked to come there or are coming because of a long tradition of success and a great education they can get...regardless of how sports turn out. You may be able to apply the great education to this scenario, but long winning tradition??? Not buying it. One year doesn't make it a long tradition. If that was the case, Dixie football would have been flooded with transfers this year. But I'll go back to the key point of this answers...are the kids going to HHS and CC being asked to go there or just showing up? As for CVH, I didn't agree with that when it happened either, but I did not know anywhere near as much about that situation. From the outside it appeared they used Villa to allow him to play varsity when others would not allow it at the time. I have to think Villa knew what they were getting and must have been okay with it. IMO, HS programs should not be used as avenues to highlight one person's needs. The program should be bigger than individuals. But again, I don't know hardly any of those details.

*I agree...HOPEFULLY they are doing it for education. In one case (of the 3 so far, that could be an argument). In the other cases, one is coming from another private school (that feeds another very good school) and one is coming from the number one ranked education school in the state.

Again, this isn't about "what's" happening or an AAU team wanting to play together. If that was the case, I'd be all over several others that have AAU coaches or a few AAU kids that wanted to play together. Do I agree with that, no. It's about the integrity of how it's being done. I have no ideas if any rules are officially being broken. I'm not that close to the bylaws in bball. But I do know that they are being stretched to the fullest in what the spirit of the rules are intended for. I really can't believe that most are okay with manufacturing powerhouse HS teams, regardless if they are "within the rules" as they are currently. We need to take a step back and see who that is really effecting. HS sports is just an extension of the education process. It's not the place where this stuff should happen! Do I want to win...ABSOLUTELY! But I want to develop and have successes with the hand I'm dealt each year. That's what high school is all about.

Bottom line is HC is pulling kids from all over and I feel for the one on here who said his kid is on the waiting list. Well your kid is on the waiting list because of the Coach recruiting these kids and yes I said recruiting and if anyone of you can't see that well OPEN your eyes. I hope your kid gets in because they are going there for the right reason's if not anyone one of these other schools would love to have your child.

Why should that kid get in before any other kid?

RCC9 and maybe one or two others, that is enough.
