I have no problem with Caldwell County or their schedule. They may well be the best team in the Class - we shall see. The problem is, like I mentioned in a previous post, the schedule they made looked better than those teams actually turned out to be. That isn't Caldwell's fault, but by the same token, it makes it a little tough to judge them. The Mayfield game should give a much better reading.

In November my money is on Scroggins/Central until proven otherwise.

With Central's current form, they're a solid #1 right now. LexCath, Belfry, and Boyle Co. are about even right now in my eyes. I still need to see more from Caldwell and especially E-Town. Caldwell Co. will have an opportunity for a statement win against Mayfield in a couple of weeks, but E-Town will likely head into the playoffs still a mystery.

 

Lawrence Co. is a team to watch coming down the stretch. They should close out the regular season with three easy wins in a row after a close loss to Belfry. If the Bulldogs get on a roll, they could surprise some people in the postseason.

That, IMHO, is the only thing holding Caldwell back from firmly being planted as one of the favorites.

 

A flawed Tilghman team is their best win... but if they beat Mayfield they immediately make a case as one of the teams to beat..and may actually be the favorite in the West because their path is not nearly as difficult as the teams who have to grind out of Region 2.

 

At the same time, if Caldwell gets bush whacked it will also speak volumes.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that beating the Tilghman horse is a popular past time here of late in the last few years.

 

A loss to a then healthy 6A Central Hardin, and correct me if I'm wrong, but this game was tied at the end of three? I'm guessing depth finally took it's toll on Tilghman.

 

A loss to Caldwell County in a game that was very much closer than the score indicated until the final few minutes when Caldwell blew it open. And, didn't Tilghman's QB get injured early in the game?

 

Losing to Mayfield. Enough said.

 

If depth up front and not being able to finish games late is their flaw, then I'd agree. Other than that, I'm not really sure what their flaws are under their new direction?

That definitely is their biggest flaw.

 

But maybe even moreso is the fact they have allowed 44 points per game in their 3 losses. Giving up that many points lends itself to a team who not only struggles to finish games, but simply is not very good on Defense.

Did anyone go to this game? I think if I remember correctly that Central was up and then just didn't score again and Know won it, but was curious if someone knew more.

All I remember was it was 24-7 Central leading and then the Bermuda triangle set up over South Central Kentucky. Southwestern and Central both blew huge leads and subsequently lost to seemingly over matched opponents within 30 minutes of each other.

Central Hardin was held to no touchdowns by South Warren, one TD by Bowling Green and one offensive TD by Boyle. Paducah Tilghman let Central Hardin go off for the Bruins' HIGHEST-SCORING game of the season (and Central Hardin played a down Meade County team and a down Bullitt East squad).

 

Outside of the McCracken game (which McCracken had several things go wrong), EVERY time Paducah Tilghman plays a halfway decent team, it gets gashed defensively.

 

Who would you say is Tilghman's best defensive performance of the year (Outside of the season opener, that is. If McCracken is PT's defensive highlight of the season, that ain't saying much).

 

And if the defensive highlight came against Madisonville (3-6, shut out by Owensboro), Trigg (2-7, hasn't broken 15 points in four straight games) or Union (5-3, held below 20 points in half its games), then defense isn't exactly a strong suit.

 

Talking to Central Hardin folks, Paducah Tilghman's main offense was the PT quarterback running around and his WRs/TEs/RBs making up their own routes backyard-football style.

 

Maybe PT has righted the ship since then, but even North Hardin -- NOT known for its defense at all -- gave up similar numbers to Caldwell as PT did (and North Hardin had a 3-hour bus ride after school).

Couldn't agree more. I am not yet sold on how good Caldwell is either. Other than Central, I am not so sure how good Boyle, Lex Cath or Belfry is. I, for sure, don't have that east bias that is so prevalent on BGP. I subscribe to the western bias. lol.

Central seems to have the stranglehold on the west right now, but prior to this past Friday everyone felt it was Boyle who had that. I will give Central the nod for now, but they will have A LOT of traveling to do to get to BG, and A LOT of very good teams to go through. If I am not mistaken, and usually am, Central would have to beat LexCath, Boyle Co, on the road at the winner of Tilghman and Caldwell. You can mix that up for any of the teams out of region 2. Pretty tough row to hoe in anyone's book no matter the class.

That's correct. Central is home all the way until the Semi Final's. If its me I would take Caldwell over Tilghman, that's just because it is a shorter Drive. Taken that they win their district and I don't see them Losing it. But you never know.

My prediction is very simple in the West, The so called flawed Tilghman team wins region one by beating Caldwell and then will entertain Central for the right to go to BG with Central winning that game in a close one-----
