Paul Ryan says he is not interested.

This speaker flap involving the mainstream Republicans and the Tea Party minority only underscores the schism between the two factions. Pelosi and the Dems are wisely staying on the sidelines. They apparently will not be part of any solution. The longer this soap opera drags on, the more likely we'll see Democratic ads in '16 questioning how the GOP can move the country forward if they can't even get the bus out of neutral in the House of Representatives.

More nails in the GOP casket...Tea Party Republicans have done great damage to the Party and possibly to the country moving forward.

That's a myth perpetuated by the media. The core values of the Tea Party are fiscal responsibility, limited government and free markets. Who is not in favor of these items? Just call them a tea party-ite and brand them a crack pot. So wrong. John Boehner does not represent me.

 

Each group has their fringe that calls themselves Republicans or Democrats. If any sane Democrat looked up what a Socialist is they'd be embarrassed to support Bernie. The value of equality means that nobody in society has any special benefits, regardless of their production and willingness to achieve results. Who is in favor of this? But they'll pull the lever regardless.

I am in favor of those three points .It is the Tea Party's refusal to compromise on anything, their tendency to espouse a petulant scorched earth policy when they can't get their way (ie) the last government shutdown, and some of their leaders make me think of them as out of touch crackpots .

MIT educated Thomas Massie is a tremendous representative . Outstanding .

Ryan is being pushed hard to accept. His demands almost make it sound like he doesn't really want the gig. If he gets it , he will take a lot of power with him and centralize it.

1) Public endorsement from the House Freedom Caucus;

2) a re-writing of the House rules as they currently exist amending the now-infamous "motion to vacate the chair" nearly used against John Boehner;

3) a guarantee that he will be allowed to delegate some of the speaker's travel and fundraising duties so that he can still spend time in Wisconsin with his family.
