September 21, 201511 yr Disturbing story. Soldiers have been disciplined for NOT ignoring the cries of young boys being sexually abused by Afghan soldiers. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/21/world/asia/us-soldiers-told-to-ignore-afghan-allies-abuse-of-boys.html?_r=1
September 21, 201511 yr "What if you knew her and found her dead on the ground. How can you run when you know?"
September 21, 201511 yr Yep, they are known as chai boys. It's disgusting and when I found what was going on it was right there I knew we should leave Afghanistan immediatley. It happens throughout the country. We had to live in separate parts of the base away from the afghan army incase of green on blue attacks and with the afghan police we were working with child molesters. Other combat vets I have talked to say the same thing.
September 21, 201511 yr I can't believe this was not more widely known. It isn't just Afghanistan, it is pretty much common place in most of those countries......and we are letting more in here.
September 21, 201511 yr Author Do we get to say what other countries should be able to do? Or do we let their countrymen handle it?
September 21, 201511 yr While I understand the importance of following orders in the military, that would be an order I would have broken without thinking twice. That guy would have been missing his man part to ever molest kids again and it would be prominently displayed in a fashion to warn others what would happen them should they decide to take kids as sex slaves. Another article I read about this stated that a common phrase in Afghanistan is that women are for making babies, boys are for enjoyment. With the way Sharia law demands death for homosexuality, how do these guys get away with this?
September 21, 201511 yr Do we get to say what other countries should be able to do? Or do we let their countrymen handle it? What if their countrymen don't? At what point is human rights so egregiously wounded that a response is demanded? Good question and hard one to know how far do we go to stand up for human dignity?

One of the great problems for many in US is to understand that Islam is not just one branch but is made up of many: Sunni, Shia, etc.

Good question and hard one to know how far do we go to stand up for human dignity? It's why I asked. What else do we enforce that we do not like? Treatment of women?
September 21, 201511 yr Do we get to say what other countries should be able to do? Or do we let their countrymen handle it?I think that is the tough question and one of the big issues with nation building.
September 21, 201511 yr Do we get to say what other countries should be able to do? Or do we let their countrymen handle it? We stick our noses in all the time when other countries are committing crimes. What if we had stayed silent and let Hitler kill all of the Jews. His countrymen certainly were not going to handle it. It sickens me that our government is telling U.S. soldiers to look the other way on this.
