September 21, 201511 yr Do we get to say what other countries should be able to do? No. Anybody that says we should or do have a say, should think that other countries can come in and tell us what we should or shouldn't be doing as Americans. I don't think too many people will think that way.
September 21, 201511 yr "What if you knew her and found her dead on the ground. How can you run when you know?" Some don't believe me, but the most "formative" song of my adolescence.
September 21, 201511 yr I believe during Vietnam the US knew full well the South Vietnamese were conducting atrocities in order to gain information about the North Vietnamese and the US took the position the North is doing the same thing and if we don't get similar information, the war is lost and Communism spreads. *cough My Lai cough* And before anyone goes ballistic, I'm not anti-military. Just anti-war.

That position didn't work out very well for us in Vietnam, now did it?!
September 22, 201511 yr There is definitely a double edged sword in this. If we turn away from the Afghani tribes, we lose our only ally in Afghanistan against the Taliban, Al Quada and ISIS. While these tribes military might may not be very impressive, their information and intellience on the Taliban, Al Quade and ISIS I have to be believe is invaluable in fighting those three groups. So the dilemma is if we back away from the Afghanis, did we just give those three groups a giant gift allowing them to operate under our noses like roaches and plan another 9-11 type attack on the US? Or, we stay with the Afghanis and know child molestation and enslavement is occurring under our watch? I will say again, if I were a soldier and walked in on one of them raping a child, he would be dismembered in a way that would prevent it from ever happening again. That was a horrible report. Personally, I would gladly sacrifice some efficiency in fighting terrorism if it meant not having to ignore this. I don't want to be safer at the cost of kids being raped. Easy to say I suppose, but I mean it.
September 22, 201511 yr That position didn't work out very well for us in Vietnam, now did it?! Hard to say. Did fighting "dirty" drag the war out long enough that communist sympathizers decided it wasn't worth trying to break out a communist civil war in their countries? Recall that few if any communist revolutions broke out after Vietnam. If we took the moral route would the war have ended much quicker due to lack of intelligence and communist revolutionaries have been more emboldened to enter more countries and more countries fall to communism? Would communism have spread to other counties, even Australia? I am not saying it would have not am I condoning fighting dirty, just saying you cannot conclude it didn't work just because we lost the war.
September 22, 201511 yr From what I have read today, this "practice" is frowned upon and it's not out in the open. They dress up the boys to be a little feminine, the ones who do this are using it as a way to get around the Quran. Should we get involved? If a soldier sees a kid, or even an adult, tied up or screaming? Yes. It's not out in the open in the sense it's being done publicly, but it's publicly known with the populace. They just don't do anything because of how shady the ANP are and don't wan't to be arrested.

I don't think too many people will think that way. There are absolute rights and absolute wrongs...this is an absolute wrong and it is our duty yo act.
