This actually is a very sad day for uk#1fan. This was supposed to be the day that SK slew the giant. He waited the entire off-season proclaiming that SK would be the one who took down Goliath and would finally have bragging rights that have been held over him for more than 25 years.

 

He was warned, but he wouldn't listen. He was told there were some good teams in the area that could steal his thunder. He wouldn't listen, he scoffed at those other teams, this was to be his moment to shine. and then it happened.

 

8/21/2015 came upon us. The date that will live in uk#1fan's mind, a day that will live in infamy for him. The day that he passed off as no threat at all to his bragging rights to sit atop the mountain and proclaim that SK is the giant killer.

 

The skies grayed as the Cooper Jaguars in their new uniforms stomred upon the field with that rock in their slingshot. The mighty Jaguars took down the mighty Highland BlueBirds in a game that was determined after their first offensive play. Bluebirds are down, Bluebirds are down, The mighty Bluebirds have been defeated. But how could this happen, this the first game of the year. SK was to be the mighty team in NKY to do this, yet they weren't. The thunder had been stolen right from under uk#1fan's feet. Now what?

 

Well it goes to show when you continually dismiss other teams, one of them may be stealing his very thunder.

 

So tonight instead just turns into another game that only a few will have vested interest in.

 

Sorry uk#1fan, but you can still try and enjoy it like you planned on for a year now.

Wow I mean I know everybody here loves football but going back and forth like this so what if Skblows them out it doesn't change the fact that highlands is one of the best programs in the country.Simon Kenton has took strides over the years and will continue to get better and better i think if highlands and Sk start playing a series it would be al azing and close .and in response to a down team yes the player and coaches know it down but you still wear your school name on your jerseys

I really hope SK doesn't win the game 80-0. These Highlands kids don't deserve that just like the 1997 SK kids didn't deserve getting beat 76-0.

Who has the pressure in this game? SK wants to maintain their undefeated record and finally prove they can overcome a giant. FTH would have to go 365 days knowing they couldn't get the job done that their predecessors seemed to have had no trouble with.

Also one more thing... how much of SK, Ryle and other local program's success do you think has some Highlands DNA in it? over the past 4-5 years ive noticed a lot of similarities in youth leagues to fort Thomas's 50 year system. Ryle used to play HHS twice a season to gain experience... Think any of the Highlands tradition has rubbed off in all these years? Or at least teams getting tired of getting the tar kicked out of them? NCCs early 2000s success was a direct result of Jared Lorenzen teaching Schneider how run an offense in the all star game. Now the tables have turned for the time being...

Boone County teams like Ryle and Cooper started their middle school program because of the way the BCPWFL was running. The BC Pee Wee system had kids from all 4 high schools on one team and it was not helping the high schools develop kids. So the Union Jags and Raiders were started to get kids in the system earlier. I don't think that is from Highlands as much as it is common sense!

You Highlands fans for years have taunted the SK program for not playing you. Now that SK is on your schedule you want to act like SK beating you is no big deal because the "Birds are down this year" all the while in the past you often reminded the SK faithful how many times the Bluebirds beat the Pioneers. As we all know, all the years that Highlands beat SK, the SK program was down.

 

Sorry folks, you can't have it both ways. It isn't SK's fault Highlands is down this year. You have asked for SK for years, now you've got them!

Well Boone County's success years ago was also directly related to HHS, Owen Haulk was a Highlands guy. So youre saying that if Highlands never existed Cov Cath, Ryle and such would be exactly as good as they are now? I don't know. Highlands offseason commitment and work ethic spread as years went by. Competition / success is contagious. Why do think Ryle scheduled H twice a year all those years?
