September 8, 201511 yr I said it when he was at UL. He was very fortunate that he did find himself a future NFL starter at QB when he was at UL. I think overall his teams will have good defenses, however him being able to find a future NFL QB to start for him was much reason for his success at UL. He would have continued to do Ok at UL after Bridgewater left, but I think UL wouldn't have continued to see the same success. Interesting point, how many coaches in football and basketball have taken success bread from having one or two stud players come through their program and catapult into a bigger better job? I like Strong and hope he get Texas on track, Texas is one of those teams that I just like to see being relevant.

September 9, 201511 yr Texas current Recruiting Class is ranked 39th but ended the last 2 seasons 16th and 9th Texas Schools current recruiting class Baylor 13th Texas A&M 19th TCU 21th Houston 31st Texas Tech 38th This is amazing to me. Being Texas should make you an automatic top 5 on the recruiting trail. You can recruit only within a 3 hour drive and land a top 20 class.
September 9, 201511 yr He has to be allowed to get his players in that he is recruiting and develop his players. No one, and I mean no one can come in and win automatically, I don't care what school you are going to. Charlie Strong is a tough minded, hard working coach. Trust me when I tell you I love Notre Dame and always have, so I hear people bashing our coach all the time. If given time Charlie will be successful, if not then Texas is setting themselves back even farther than they are now. They kept Coach Mack way to long and that is there fault

September 9, 201511 yr Chuck is on a sinking ship. He wasn't wanted by the majority money holders. They don't have time for a complete turn around they want win now. I hate it for him and those coaches because as a UL fan we owe a lot to that staff. Lesson - Grass is not always greener

Kids like the cool stuff. A & M has some nice jerseys and I doubt Texas is lacking in facilities but have you saw A&M's locker room? It's amazing. Look at all of Baylor's uniforms and helmet. Unless they can get Saban (no chance unless they really open up the check book), or if the Chup Kelly NFL project dies and they can land him then there's no reason to fire a good coach. That'll hurt recruiting if you give up on a guy who didn't even get a chance to work with his guys.

I meant to mention that they would REALLY have to open up the check book. I don't think there's any chance it happens but I think they would try. Chip Kelly's is the more likely one, but I hope Charlie stays and builds the program back up there.
