Why don't you hear T and X complaining about the blind draw and...

what does that mean?

To steal a quote from Clint Eastwood I believe T and X have learned to adapt and overcome.

I believe (at least for now) T and X know it will be a big money maker.

I believe T and X look at it as they have to beat the other to win it all so it doesn't matter if the game is in the first round or the state finals, anything other than a championship is a "failure" of sorts.

My point is, it is times like this that T and X set a great example.

To quote Ric Flair, ...

"To be the man, ... you gotta beat the man, ... whoooo!"

Be careful Guru. I believe this in violation of BGP Rule #6: No putting incorrect or false information on the site. Have you not learned from the county schools, A.D.s and coaches that this is not possible.

The only time they complain is when the "talk" happens regarding their feeder system which encompasses everywhere is talked about. Even if you made them take Louisville only that would help even it up. They get kids from Oldham, Frankfort, Henry, Spencer, Jeffersonville, New Albany, Clarksville, and who knows where else??? That is what would be the most fair thing that could happen to give the other L-ville schools a fair chance to beat an All-Star team that does work hard, etc etc. The do set a great example but all of your good programs are going 365 like they are and don't get to draw all over the state.

and who knows where else???

We get them from Ohio, TN, IL, and KY. We are looking to get some other kids from CA on a work/study mission. Next year will be great. :thumb:

I have not and will not fault anything that St. X and Trinity do in terms of practice, preparation, sportsmanship, coaching, etc.. They do set a great example in many different areas.

Do they play on a level playing field with other 4A schools? Who knows.

For example, Coach Hensley at Dunbar in Lexington is a great coach in my opinion. How fair would it be if he had the fortune to draw from some of the best talent from Woodford Co, Scott Co, Clark Co, Madison Co, Jessamine Co, and other Lexington schools? How GOOD would Dunbar be then? Would they need to complain about anything then? Would they worry about what the KHSAA did with the playoff system? Would they be a dominant force in 4A year in and year out?

Answer some of those questions and you will see why Trinity and St. X doesn't or isn't complaining. Both schools are in similiar situations with similiar fortunes and misfortunes, so beating the best to be the best IS their motto. But how fair is it to the other schools in 4A who do not have the fortune to do some of the things that Trinity and St. X are allowed to do? Can Manual draw from all the places that these two schools do for players?

Knute Rockne, any public school in KY can accept any student-athlete they want to accept.

Remember, you can't self impose restrictions on your own school district and then complain that others won't do the same. The practice is not only stupid but it is un-American.

Do those student-athletes just happen to show up out of nowhere at their front door asking to get in? Some do I'm sure, but what about the others?

It really isn't fair that people have the right to live where they want AND send their children to any private school they choose. Maybe we should start reviewing some old Soviet guidelines.

Jefferson County is an Open Enrollment school district. Students are allowed to attend the school of their choice, if they meet the deadlines, criteria, etc. If there is room, it is my understanding from the information available from JCPS that out-of-county students CAN attend a Jefferson County school, provided they pay a tuition rate. This is information I was given when I was looking to possibly place my daughter in a public school because of a program they offered in the Arts. It's not a rumor, nor something someone else told me.

So, the answer to your question is that theoretically, yes, Manual has the ability to do so, but may be limited in getting those students because of the other criteria that must be met to be allowed enrollment there (i.e. academic standards).

No state law prevents any public school district from accepting students outside their county. Those are local decisions.

If you have facts of wrongdoing present them (to the KHSAA), if all you have are opinions, allegations, and someone I know told me please don't present that here at BGP.

I think most public schools only question how those kids get to the school or become interested in it. Did they see a billboard, flyer, or ad about the school or did someone come talk to them about coming to one of the catholic schools? I think most public schools would like to send people out into the various surrounding communities and publicize their schools and invite young kids to open houses, etc...

you are wrong, call the JCPS and ask them if Manual, Brown, and Central can take kids out of jefferson county.

So we can send assistant coaches to Trinity, St. X, and hand out pamplets to come to our school system. Sounds good to me, I believe I will try it. This is exactly why everything must fall perfectly in place for a public school to win a State Championship. One transfer, injury, etc dooms a public school. Where the all over school district can just reload! Northern KY is not to far for them to recruit some players, and then it would hit a little closer to home.
