September 2, 201511 yr I thought that in most diocese weddings weren't allowed to be scheduled after 3:30 on Saturday. I think that's the case in Louisville. A few years ago I attended the wedding of a niece in Florida. That was at 2. The reception was at that parish so at 3:30 I left the reception and went to Mass again for Sunday.

A few years ago I attended the wedding of a niece in Florida. That was at 2. The reception was at that parish so at 3:30 I left the reception and went to Mass again for Sunday. In a lot of dioceses, it just matters what time a particular parish has its normal Saturday vigil mass. I went to one in Cleveland earlier this year where the mass was at 5:30 because that parish actually has their public Saturday mass at 3:00 pm.

September 2, 201511 yr I've seen too many dress pants and short sleeve golf shirts lately. That don't fly with the women in my family.
September 2, 201511 yr Every wedding I've been to, except my own, I wore dress pants, long sleeve shirt, & tie.....no sports coat, don't own one and have ZERO intentions of either.
September 2, 201511 yr Don't worry about the Mass/ceremony. Prepare yourself for the reception. They can get a tad boisterous on occasion.
September 2, 201511 yr If you wear cut offs, a mesh tank top and flip-flops they will remember you FOREVER. In fact, they will talk about you often for the rest of their lives - birthday parties, Thanksgiving, anniversaries, any time the family gets together.
September 2, 201511 yr The very first mass I went to was when I was standing up in a Catholic wedding. I was confused throughout but it was all good until it was time to take communion. I didn't think I was supposed to because I'm not Catholic, but the wedding party was the first row to stand up and go and everyone else did, so I did too. When I got to the priest he was holding the little tablet and I very awkwardly said "no thanks," then shuffled past the now confused priest and the very confused person with the wine shots and back to the pew.

St. Louus Bertrand used to do them at 7 on Saturday but they are not a diocesan parish.
