For me, an ex Dixie sports parent, this is very embarrassing and I feel for the young lady who deals with her issue daily and just wants to be a kid. I think getting your team "taken to the wood shed" had something to do with it as well. You win with class and you LOSE with class, ON AND OFF THE FIELD. And you applaud those less fortunate than you who HAVE THE GUTS to try and live the life same as you! Kids are kids and will always push the envelope as we all well know. I'm not trying to excuse the behavior at all, but I think in today's world we have kind of looked the other way on things that would not have been tolerated years ago.

 

As an ex Dixie sports parent, I sure would like to apologize to the young lady for the STUPID actions of a few idiot Dixie students. And young lady( I think she is an 8th grader), DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU IN ANY WAY. This Dixie parent is proud of you. You just keep doing what you love and have fun NO MATTER WHAT!

I disagree. A visible presence of administrators and teachers is a huge deterrent to stupidity. Not saying it wouldn't have started but it could have been stopped quickly and those responsible punished. When I see and hear students sections acting like idiots I don't get angry with the students, they are teenagers who by definition are usually judgement challenged. I get angry with the adults who run the school who allow the behavior to happen by fostering an environment in the schools where the students feel it's acceptable.

 

A question: If a student at a public school gets in trouble at a sporting event are there school repercussions? At Trinity kids can be given detention for actions at games and serious enough behavior issues can get a kid suspended.

 

Another question: Are teachers at public schools required to be at any extracurricular activities to supervise the students?

Because I honestly didn't know if they were or not.

Yes if your caught doing something on school grounds or at a school event you can be punished by the school for your actions.... I have heard from someone who witnessed it that it did happen. I do not think its reflective of all of Dixie however for the ones that did tease her, its absolutely tasteless. I hope they get dealt with accordingly by the school.

I have been to games at Dixie, Ryle, Beechwood, Cov. Cath, Highlands, At all these games I seen the fans really mistreat the cheerleaders badly while there. Calling them dogs, barking at them, making pig noises and pig noses. I have never seen this anywhere else but in NKY.

Yes I would guess over 50% of the high schools in Kentucky at one point or another. Several in WV, and Indiana as well. Seen a lot of things but the cheerleader mistreatment caught my attention in that area. Beechwood was worst I ever seen vs. Franklin County last year, and Frankfort a few years back.

I've been to games at just about every NKY school and this is the first cheerleader mistreatment incident I've ever heard about. I hope it's handled with the appropriate discipline.

As a parent I'd take him to her house to apologize to her and her parents. I've actually done that once.
