Can someone enlighten me why Trinity is even being discussed in thread that as nothing to do with them?

Yeah I am kind of confused.

I am most interested in watching who (overall) wins in the trenches. I realize X's offense is more "open" this year. However, when I watched a bit of the Henry Clay video, they appear to run it between the tackles a bunch. Do the X fans feel this will be the strategy on Friday night?

Historically X has been successful running the ball against BG. They get in trouble when they get away from that and BG comes after them with their multiple blitz packages. Chase Rowan #23 for X appears to be similar to Charles Walker and X needs to make sure not to get away from during the course of the game.

LTR, I would agree with this. I'll be looking for #23 on Friday night! IF BG were to score first, would X abandon most runs and just go to the spread exclusively?

IF X abandons the run game it will be a long night for Ridder and the X offense. Now if it's two scores or more mid-way through the 3rd, then the pass game will take precedence.

The Tigers on offense can not become one dimensional or else the Purples defense will have a field day.

For X to win, their defense has to perform. Last year they did everything to win, but just couldn't get much help from the offense. But in the previous meetings BG's offense has just been too much for the Tigers. It'll be interesting to see their game for the BG offense.

Speed is exceptional at Bowling Green per current St. X staffer.

That was 2013.

That thread was last year when BG was chasing Trinity's streak. Such fun times. :D

They always have guys that can roll, that's for sure.

LTR, what is your assessment of the X DBs, Safetys and Linebackers? I ask this because I feel BG will try to get the speed into space. If this occurs, the back 7 must tackle well.

Purples are solid at every defensive position two deep. They are very well coached and execute their individual assignments almost perfectly. It's a one of a kind team. I am picking the Purples 21. Not knocking X at all...really good program as well but BG is just that GOOD!!!

Logan Butler #49 , is the real deal. Big kid with speed at the LBer position who just makes plays. By far X's best player, but X does have a DB (#16) that is long and could be an element that hasn't been present in the X secondary in a long time. Other than those two guys no else really stands out; typical X secondary, kids that will be in position and try to keep everything in front of them. X's DL has to generate a pass rush to help the back end.

X on film is very scary. I'll take them by 10

Good stuff LTR! I think the pass rush will be key for X. If the BG QB has time, he is savy enough to find those 2 guys you mentioned and go to BGs 3rd option who will have speed also. I look for it to be a close game. X has a ton of pride, playing at home and will play very hard. What I question most from X is the play calling. Remember last years game at the end of the first half.
