Beechwood took home the 3peat at RA tonight. 6th,7th,8th

8th final was 53-24

 

Very good team very well coached. I'm surprised they didn't ask to play up in the big league this year. Favorite for Small league for sure but definitely at a different level then the small league teams competitively

 

Jones parent said the 8th grade was never close. She said they were down like 30 - 3 at halftime.

Since there has been 270 posts and over 20,000 views to this thread, many from newer members or posters, I want to caution folks about the expectations of these younger kids and the hoops careers ahead of them. Many kids mature at younger ages and a kid who is a stud now, may not be by mid HS. Enjoy it while you can. Don't put too much pressure on little Johnny the stud. In addition, if your little Bobby that rides the bench doesn't play now, tell him to stick with it. He may be the kid that sprouts up and becomes the next kid who got cut who went on to star in High School. Also keep in mind how important grades are. The harder they work now, the easier it will be in the long run.

It wasn't. That's a special team at Beechwood some STUDS over there.

This past Saturday Beechwood 7th & 8th went over to Cincinnati and scrimmaged Withrow. Both Beechwood teams won rather easily. I was surprised that Withrow wasn't better than what they were..

 

I watched Withrow play twice last season. When They walked into the gym I thought they would blow out Kings. I talked to their coach many times last year. He told me about the home life that some of these boys have. Or don't have for that matter. I tried to sponsor one to play AAU for me. I wish I could do more to help some of them. I was going to sponsor one player to play AAU with me last year but his parents just didn't feel comfortable.

 

My point which I think is probably along your lines. When they walk in the gym. (Same with Walnut Hills) the size and athleticism is shocking. But the reality is that these boys don't get the opportunity to play when they are 6,7,8,9 etc like many of the NKY kids. Their families just don't have the means to do it. It's really unfortunate because those kids "get it". I talked to a couple. One specifically didn't have any parents and wanted to play. He was a long athletic three man. He wasn't skilled but you could tell he loved to play. At the time I was looking for a 13 yr old and it didn't work out with him.

A lot of them had a ton of athleticism but didn't have the basketball skills. A couple of the eighth grade kids in warm ups were jumping up and grabbing the rim like it was nothing.

Camp Ernest beat Campbell Cty 8th grade tonight by 12

 

CEMS won the 6th grade game and lost the 7th grade game.

 

8th grade team is a nice team. Well coached. Runs a nice offense.

I didn't catch the 6th grade game but both 7th and 8th won pretty easily. When Huddleston comes back, the 8th grade team will get scary real fast. Halfway through the 3rd qtr Ahlfeld had out scored the whole Grant Cty team for the game and Sulter was grabbing boards and blocking shots. Sulter is starting to get more aggressive underneath which is a big bonus. Also with the loss of Brycen they have a couple of post players getting more minutes and showing flashes. They should really be able to help down the stretch.

Yes, Camp Ernest always gives HMS a great game. This maybe Camp Ernest's year to finally get them. HMS will be without one of there big 3, Huddleston. That could be a tough task to pull out a win on the road without him.
