They called Walton the "mountain man" because of the beard and long hair. And Rick Barry talked about guys who would fall for head fakes members of the "paratrooper club" about 10 times per game. Dawkins and Lucas were two guys you did NOT want to mess with.

August 27, 201511 yr My favorite Dawkins story is the one where he was having problems with his shoulder or arm I can't recall exactly which. They ran tests trying to find out what the problem was and it turns out he was carrying one of those old massive boomboxes around with him on his shoulder and that was the cause of the pain.

In one of the playoff series he played in a shoe executive called the Sixers and complained because Dawkins was wearing a Nike on one foot and a Pony brand shoe on the other. There was no non compete or exclusive contracts on shoes in those days so Dawkins had signed a contract with both companies and wore one shoe on each foot

August 28, 201511 yr Those late 70's and early 80's 76ers were my team...I loved Dawkins I found their radio broadcasts back them and would listen on occasion. Of course they were on TV constantly.
