When will a Lexington 4A school win another championship?

Featured Replies

It has been 25 years since Henry Clay won a title. When will it happen again? Will it ever happen? What is the problem in Lexington? Do the Louisville school really have that much more talent than the Lexington schools?

When all the planets, stars, moons, and comets align in a leap year, a Lexington school will win 4A again.

One of two things has to happen (or maybe a combination of the two):

1) A Lexington school has to have what is flat-out the best team in the state and they have to remain healthy for the entire season.

2) The Big 3 (all three of them) have to have a relatively down year.

Not sure how it is lately

but last time I observed many Lex teams didnt have enough fans to start a good pillow fight

Need support for a successful program IMO

The reason that Lexington schools aren't winning 4A titles is the same reason the rest of the state isn't, either. Only five non-Louisville schools have won the 4A title in the 24 years since Henry Clay, and none in the last nine seasons.

Bryan Station had a shot a few years back but it'll be very tough to surpass those from L'ville.

OK, I'll bite. What is the reason?

Clark County is not to far removed from Lex and had a great team in 91 and beat t and X along the way.

I heard that coach kept a close eye on those kids since grade school and put in the system early.

Clark Co is a solid program.

I think Coach Hensley will do good things at Dunbar and they would be my pick to be the team to win one.

Coach Lucas seems right now to be exactly what Bryan Station needed. With the new school opening next spring and a new football field the next year, they are a sleeping giant that could be a factor.

Scott Co is another solid program. The spanking X gave them was a measuring stick as to what it takes. With Scott Co being the only school in a place that is booming like Georgetown you have to think that a great slew of athletes are going to be there at some point. How long do you all think it will be until they open a new school in Scott Co?

Fifteen years sure seems like a long time and pretty far removed.

Byran Station took St.X into overtime in 1999 title game. They were loaded almost any other year and they win.(Eric Sheldon,Haskin brothers etc.)It will happen again.

Lexington teams don't have the fire and hate that they did in the 90's when some made some noise and beat Trinity, X, and such......

I don't know if they jsut come in doubting.

I think you nailed a part of their problem. You have to believe you can win in order to win.

Clark Co will have a very strong team this season..how far will they go....????

The point is that Louisville (two schools in particular) is dominating the state in 4A ... it isn't just Lexington that is experiencing a drought.

Expecting something else, huh?

With athletes, and experience, along with successful coaching, Clark Co, can play with any team.
