Randy Parker
For the first time in at least a decade and maybe even longer, the average income for Campbell County households is higher than those of Kenton County. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey five-year estimates from 2009-2013, Campbell County’s median household income is $54,306, while Kenton County comes in at $54,270. Campbell County Fiscal Court Judge/Executive Steve Pendery brought up the statistic in the Fiscal Court meeting on Wednesday in Newport. 2 Humped Camel
Any thoughts on what we attribute that to? I would say that a lot of the lower income housing being torn down in Newport helped boost Campbell County's average.
lawildcat
I certainly wouldn't attribute it to anything Steve Pendery has done for Campbell County. I'm sure he will take all the credit for it though.
Colonels_Wear_Blue
I think Bellevue is on the rise as a neighborhood. There have been quite a few areas getting more pricy around the Fairfield Avenue revitalization, and not to mention the construction of the high dollar condos on the riverfront in Bellevue. mexitucky
The new residents of Villa Grand don't hurt the figures.
TAC
I would say that a lot of the lower income housing being torn down in Newport helped boost Campbell County's average. I don't think this is the answer. They just relocated them to different parts of the city. It has to be a combination of things. East end of Newport has brought in some fresh high end blood. Alexandria has lifted the moratorium on building a few years ago and this may have helped. Upscale condos in Bellevue. Combination of a lot of things. se7ens
I don't think it has anything to do whatsoever period with jobs inside Campbell County. I also think J/E Pendery has to a lot to do with it. His administration has forsaken attracting exceptional employers while supporting the rise of exceptional housing communities. These residents more often than not don't work in Campbell County. This comes with pros and cons. Pros - we have more great communites and more great residents. Cons - well, one major con, the continuing stagnation of our county's tax-base and economy and don't let this statistic or any others provided by Pendery tell you otherwise. My friends own a B&B in Bellevue (shameless plug for Weller Haus) and some other property in the city. It's really looking good down there. Pendery is all about growing businesses not located in Campbell Co. and trying to say it's good for the region so it's good for CC. I'd like to see a Gateway campus or 2 in CC for the amount of $$ we allocate to them.
TAC
With this per capita increase, just maybe the wonderful Mr. Pendry can help show us what he is doing with the money. Parks? Pendry park--property donated and knothole built part of the park, Fort Thomas soccer built the front part. AJ Jolly park? Sure, if you like to pay for a membership to enjoy it. Guess he does not worry too much about it as he hangs out in Fort Thomas which has tons of great city parks. I was always embarrassed when my kids played sports and we would travel to the other county parks and be blown away with the facilities. Of course when they played on your home turf it was rather embarrassing.
