Bass Pro, Cabela's or Field and Stream

Featured Replies

Of these 3 hunting and fishing stores, which is your preference? I know that there is a Bass Pro and Cabela's around Cincinnati and F&S is in Northern Kentucky. Have never been to the Cabela's or F&S.

I like field and stream. It has everything I need for hunting and fishing. Bass pro has all the bigger toys if you are looking to buy them but other than that I will save the 30+ minute drive and just hit F&S for my needs

Idk it's hard to say. I like bass pro a lot. It's hard for me to differentiate because I've never laid down a ton of smack at any of them. As far as cheap apparel goes, I think bass pro is the best. Although, if you can find your size, Walmart is the way to go. Fwiw, I'm cheap.

There's a world of difference from location to location. The Bass Pro in Clarksville (greater Louisville) is far superior to the Cabela's in Louisville, although most Cabela's stores I've been to have been FAR superior to Bass Pro shops. Field & Streams are generally an afterthought.

I've heard the Cabela's in Bowling Green is nice, but in general everyone I know goes out of their way to travel to a Bass Pro, either in Cincy or Louisville

Cabela's in Bowling Green is about 42,000 square feet...the one in Louisville is about 88,000. Neither one comes close to the one in Dundee, Michigan though. I could spend an entire day there...of course, it's 225,000 square feet!

If you are going to spend it money, $10k+ a year, Cabela's is the only way to go.

If under that, Cabela's and BPS are the same.

I like field and stream. Guns galore. No mention of Dicks? Quick stop if close for me.

For what it's worth...Dick's owns the Field & Stream stores.

I order from bass pro from time to time only because I have a bass pro credit card so I have points to use. Other than that I don't do much with any of them. Their all over priced. Just about anything they sell you can find online for cheaper. If I'm going to pay full retail Ill go to a locally owned pro shop.

One thing in common is all 3 are expensive.

Great to go to and look at and wish

Cabelas has nice stuff but their prices are out of line. More than once I have looked at something at Cabelas, pulled out my phone and looked it up on Amazon and the difference in price is too much to justify buying at Cabelas.

Example:

Cabelas wanted 79.99 for it. Sorry Cabelas.

I have been carrying this Protac 2L around for months in my cargo pants at work everywhere really, and like it so much, I am thinking about getting the Protac HL 3 to keep around the house or car. Cabelas wanted $149 for it, Amazon only 81.43.

Again, sorry Cabelas.

I'm thankful I live by one, work by the other.
