Come on, I did not post that. I just chuckle at the double standard holier than thou attitude MLB has taken. You don't care for Rose, I get that. I just feel what he did on the field of play deserves something. AND, MLB needs to make sure they watch every doggone player in uniform today. I really don't think that happens.

The story back in the day (I think) was that it was Harmon Killebrew.

I don't know that Rose gets in even after he dies. Think about it, the further we get away from his playing career, the less people that are around that actually saw him play, and the less people care about what he did, and the less supporters he will have. I think he belongs. I'm not sure that my kids really care. If he doesn't get in within the next 5-10 years of so, I'd guess he'll never get in.

 

The one argument that I think is getting more and more tired is the argument that because other "bad guys" are in we should let Pete in too. I don't buy that anymore. Just because you've always done something one way, doesn't mean you shouldn't try to do things better. Character should be part of any Hall of Fame. It's not called a Hall of Infamy. At best, Pete broke a sacred rule, lied about it fervently for 20 years, and hasn't ever really repented or offered what I would call a sincere apology. So even while, I'd probably vote for him, I really can't argue with someone who wouldn't.

I think any Hall of Fame should be based on production to that trade alone. If we start talking character how is Joe Paterno in a Hall of Fame? Or Rick Pitino? Or John Calapari for that matter? Success in your field should be the requirement for the Hall of Fame.

 

We all have to answer for our actions as a person to gain entry into a better Hall of Fame. No need for an Earhtly one as well IMO
