Spring/Summer Transfers

I think we are in agreement and I really would not know if this would be a problem for Mercer as I am not too aware of their roster beyond the Hager, Faulkner, and Dow trio. But, I doubt any of those three should play less than 75-85% of any game absent foul trouble or injury.

In a HS game there is only 160 minutes and if you have a solid trio that plays 83% of a game that accounts for 80 of those 160 minutes leaving 50% of the minutes for the rest of a team. If you play an 8 man rotation with those other 5 getting equal time they would only play 50% of the game. Many really good transfers are not going to want to play 50% of a game so either you add guys who will also play 75-85% of the game and then the other players who do not figure in the top 5 players must settle for 15-25% playing time. As a coach with a deep team you will likely have team chemistry problems or kids/parents unhappy with limited minutes.

Mercer's best lineup and crunch time go-to roster barring foul trouble will be Hager, Faulkner, Dow, Davis and Mink and Hager and Faulkner will never come off of the court.

Barring foul trouble no one else will average more than 6-10 minutes a game. Including Jared Southerland.

What success? We've yet to see it.

Going 23-9 , winning the toughest district in the 12th region, and beating a very good Southwest team in region - all with returning one player that started full time the year before on an 11-12 team. And considered by most as pre-season favorite this year.

Just saying there's excitement, and promise, surrounding that program that hasn't always been there. Sorry to upset you lol.

Anyone know if Connor Wilson from Ohio County is going to Apollo?

Toughest district in the 12th Region? When did Mercer County move to the 45th District? Boyle County vs. Lincoln County in the 12th Region finals. Classic game for the ages. Class of the 45th District. Not to mention.....Garrard County>Burgin.

Now that summer ball is over for much (not all) of the state and we head towards the dead period, I expect the transfers to begin again.

I'm not saying the top 2 teams. Most years, that's going to be Wayne's & Southwest's district, but both of those teams are all but guaranteed to make it to region. Last year it was Boyle's and Lincoln's district.

I'm coming at it from the standpoint of that there's usually no easy 2 vs 3 game. Most districts have 2 good teams, not 3. Garrard being better than Burgin (as #4 seeds) doesn't much matter. Neither has won a district game in years. Mercer, West and East are usually competitive.

The 2 vs. 3 game is never easy in the 45th(see 2015 State Semifinalist Boyle County vs. Danville 2015....The You Reach/I Teach Game) and as recently as 2012 all four teams in the 45th District were capable of making a deep run in the region tournament. 3 seed Boyle County was a Region Finalist that season with a 2-4 district record.

I expect the 45th District to be the toughest district in the region again this upcoming season. No "easy" games for anyone this season in the 45th.

Hearing rumors that Hicks is after Smith 6'7 freshman from Pendleton

And Rowan is "acquiring" Antrobus from Pendleton.....??

Huge losses for Belcher if so....

Any other he said she saids regarding these two chaps???

The Sebree transfer should be considered a pretty big transfer considering he has offers from VCU and Samford.

This really puts HHS and CCHS at the top for the Region 2 title, I'll give the tip to the Colonels now unless Atilola improves enough to be dominant...he's not there yet.

If Sebree is cleared by KHSAA CCHS will win 2nd region this year. UHA may struggle to have a winning record after losing Sebree and the other kid that left for Trigg County.

And Rowan is "acquiring" Antrobus from Pendleton

That seems to be accurate.

There isn't a 6'7" freshman from Pendleton County.

I assume he is referring to 6'4 Dontaie Allen.

Wow that huge losses for PC I just saw a tweet about Antrobus kinda surprised me. If Allen also departs then that would be a crushing blow to what would have been a top 5 team in the region.
